Six points was the largest lead in a closely contested game that saw both teams shooting like Cyclones. (OU 39%, Wichita State 41%)

Great road win for the Sooners. Chelsi really grew up tonight. OU on the road just had more poise under pressure.

What a great game for the experience for the young ones.....and to come out with a win at that. If anyone has seen Wichita State play last year, they play very physical, aggressive bball; doesn't sound as though they've changed much this year. Hostile, small gym (only held 1000), sold out. Wichita St. is having their gym renovated, so they are playing in a NAIA gym.

I knew this would be a squeaker, and I'm really impressed with the way OU played the entire second half. They went into halftime down by 4 points; kept their poise the entire second half, while Wichita State seemed to be losing theirs'. Even though, OU never could consistently get shots to fall, they hung in and won it down the stretch with free throws.

Great job http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ou.gif

The 15th ranked Sooners win again! Good job OU. I hope you softened them up for KU.

Jimi, since your game at Wichita is only 2 days away, it will be a good barometer of where KU's program is relative to the Sooners this year.

I've been very pleasantly surprised by the Jayhawks' early success this year.

Have a feeling many of the fellow "scoopers" thought OU would be in for a really long year after double ACL day a couple of weeks ago. Caton, probable All-American and Erin Higgins, a freshman who was at the time, playing the best of all the newcomers.

The young women held it together, sucked it up and went off to the sunny beaches of Waikiki to win 2 of 3. The win over NC was unexpected by most in the country and they played UCONN to 2 at the half. There are people stepping up at various times, getting each other's back, and doing something positive when called upon, most times just doing whatever it takes.

This squad is rapidly developing the type of heart, character and belief in each other that melds into something special. Call it chemistry, if you will, call it a won't quit attitude, call it livin' and lovin'the game--but most of all, just call it winnin'

metro....tonite's win was truly a team effort. I thought Laura Andrews really played big tonite and might be another freshmen who works herself into a starting position.

and Good Luck to Kansas.....I don't think you soften up Darryl and the Thugettes. Tough "little" gym to play in, too....since WSU is having their's renovated, they are playing in a NAIA gym, it holds a 1000 and they sell that one out....

I was just wishing my fellow B-12 team good luck. I am a Kansas State fan and we don't normally bleed much for Kansas. But hey, they are B-12 and they are showing some real good signs of life.

I would NOT compare them to OU yet and I expect them to have a tough game v. the Shockers. If they pull out a win color me impressed with how far they have come.

GO BIG 12!!!

Good win by this young team...
Just from the box score (disclaimer: I know this isn't the whole story http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif), there's quite a few positives:
Rebounds: players with 5, 8, 7, 2, 10, 8. THey need that dispersion consistently. Andrews had 8 in 23 minutes. Dionnah had 10.
Assits: Luce w/ 5 in 22 minutes. Way to go!
Blocks: Maria w/ 2.
Fairly balanced scoring.

Negatives: Shooting %age, turnovers, free throws.
Nothing that can't be fixed.

Anyone making the game vs. TCU Saturday? That'll be a tough road test, though TCU has lost a few games and dropped from the Top 25. I think I am going. Can't wait to see this team in person!

Whew! is right. I was watching the ESPN banner last night and it showed OU 65, Wichita St 62 with 1 minute left. The conference, as well as OU, needed that win.

TCU is 3-3 but those three losses were @Arkansas, @Purdue, and Wisconsin Greenbay at home. I hope when OU meets the frogs this weekend, they have another loss to Texas at Austin tonight.
