Ceal was kind enough to show Detroit Mercy. She had all the starters on the bench w/8:00 in the game and got every player on the roster close to five minutes.
MVP was once again Sabrina "The Stroke" Scott. 18 points in about 25 minutes and i'm still waiting for the stats, but i believe she could easily have had a triple-double if she woulda played another 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure she didn't miss a single shot today, and more than likely led the team in assists. bart laughed at my picking her as a second team All-American...just wait...Sabrina has ARRIVED! She is the complete package at both ends. 2/2 from three and both of these didn't even appear to hit any net.
2nd Star was Maria "Tatoo" Billingsly...I'd been skeptical but she really sold me today. She played out of her mind today and made me wonder what the heck she was doing playing juco ball last year.
Amber "The Board Monster" Metoyer contined to impress..though she needs to stop shooting from the outside for the time being.
In my excitement over some other players I've been neglecting to give Kate Fagan the props she deserves.
Great job by the entire team!
GO BUFFS!!!!!!!!!!

The first half was pretty fugly.
Buffsfan's assessment of the game is pretty right on. Sabrina Scott is a player...isn't it amazing what happens when someone gets over nagging injuries (knock on wood).
Billingsley had a great, great game. She plays hard every single second she is on the floor. If you thought Mandy was an annoying gnat on defense, you haven't seen anything yet.

Colorado (2-0) took advantage of 35 Detroit Mercy (0-2) turnovers to rip the Titans 86-43 Sunday afternoon in Boulder.
With Detroit Mercy coming off a Friday night loss at Oakland and starting three freshmen it appeared they were in for a long day. It began with starting center Nicole Anaejionu picking up two quick fowls and thus heading to the bench. And while the Buff offense wasn’t hitting on all cylinders the inspired offensive play of senior forward Sabrina Scott (18 total points connecting on 8-10 from the field) combined with numerous Detroit Mercy turnovers allowed the Buffs to open up a 41-20 half time lead.
Scott has really taken charge on offense thus far this season. She is aggressive in taking the ball to the basket and is consistently hitting shots from the perimeter. Her rebounding and passing are also assets which make the team better. It appears that she is playing with the confidence she had at the end of her freshman season when she was the top offensive threat on the team.
Although Detroit Mercy didn’t give up or run out of gas they continued to turn the ball over in the second half while the Buffs were hot from the floor. Colorado hit 65.5% from the floor to the Titans’ 28.6%.
Colorado stays at home to host the 16th annual Coors Classic Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night they play Hartford while Ohio State and Villanova face each other in first round action. Detroit Mercy plays at Michigan Sunday.

It appears that Billingsley is making a strong case for starting given her play the last two games. Perhaps her two most important attributes at this time is her ability to protect the ball as well as anticipate on defense. Today she committed zero turnovers in 26 minutes. On friday night she committed one TO in 11 minutes.
On defense she was credited with four steals today. She appears to be developing a sense of where the ball is going and getting in time to disrupt the pass.
As for Scott, she is playing like she was at the end of her freshman season when she was the best player on the team. Her aggressive drives to the basket, her three point shooting, passing and rebounding are invaluable to the team.
Hartford won't be much of a challenge, but Ohio State or Villanova will really give the Buffs a sense of where they are at.
