K-state was without the services of point guard Chelsea Domenico again but we do expect her back soon. Eight were indeed enough tonight. The first half was close, 47-43 K-State, but the defense rose up and SMOTE the Philistines in the second half. Tech scored only 16 points the rest of the way.

Georgia Tech tried to shut down Laurie Koehn but in concentrating on her they left Megan Mahoney relatively open. She responded by sinking 4 of 5 three pointers, 16 points and dishing out 12 assists. Koehn was held to 2 three pointers and 13 points. Ohlde had 20 points plus 5 assists and Wecker kicked in 19 plus 5 assists.

All eight played and all eight scored. Freshman Jessica McFarland scored 7 points in only the first 10 minutes of her college career. K-State shot 9-13 from three point range for 69 percent. IMHO that happened because they tried to contain Ohlde Madden and Wecker inside and concentrate on Koehn outside. As I have said on this forum before, the only thing wrong with Mahoney's three point shot in that she does not shoot often enough. Leave her open and she will burn you. She is often more accurate than Koehn (and I'm more than happy to see Koehn shoot anytime).

Word is we get USC at Bramlage Wednesday night at seven. The only disappointing thing about this game was attendance. 4,140! I can't explain that one. Maybe the fans were just spread too thin what with the friday game, saturday football v. Nebraska and then again Sunday. I hope it picks up for Wednesday otherwise we are likely to be on the road.

BTW I am glad to be back among you after a 3 days at the hospital association convention and three days assisting our daughter move. I missed fridays game but made it back to Manhattan with a half hour to spare today. Big 12 WBB is a lot more fun than moving!!!

K-State has been noted to have some strange line-ups lately. One that played a few minutes of the game was unusual. It featured Kendra "Shorty" Wecker at 5-11, Megan Mahoney at 6-0, Jessica McFarland at 6-2, Brie Madden at 6-3, and Nicole Ohlde listed at 6-4. (she is really just a shade under 6-5)

The nice thing is they handled the ball quite well thank you. I will concede that the spirit had been drainded out of Georgia Tech by then.

Jimi, I must agree that the attendance for the last couple of games has been disappointing IMO. However, it is pretty good compared to other games. If we win on Wednesday, and I believe we will thanks to our "Elite Eight," I think we will get a home game for the finals unless Penn State or Mississippi State really improve their attendance figures. Penn State's game today was seen by 3,518 while the Mississippi State game was witnessed by a mere 855. I hope all the Cats will come out in droves and pack Bramlage on Wednesday. With two more wins, we are the WNIT Champions. While that may not mean a whole lot, it will extremely help us in quality of opponents as we prepare for the daunting schedule of the Big 12.

Unfortunately, I may not be one of those in attendance on Wednesday night. Our high school basketball season officially gets underway with practice this week, and we have drawn the 5:30-7:30 time slot. That means the best I can do is get there by halftime. @$(#*$)@#)@!!!!!!!!!

I'm disappointed that tonight's game is not televised. I'm very curious to see K-State's almost guardless team. I really do like Mahoney's great all-around game though. If K-State continues to win, Mahoney should be getting a lot more press than she did last year.
