Thank you BigUTFan and Bobcat for getting us the news. This is fantastic news for the Longhorn program. This also marks the 2nd year in a row that the top Texas player stayed in state with Erin Grant going to Tech last year. I'd like this trend to continue.
Can you tell us more about Tiffany's play? I was very impressed when I saw Tiffany play as a sophmore. In the highschool playoffs last year, she did not have a good game at all.

What little she played...well she is a giant among little ones!! She was very impressive when Duncanville was pressing. She had several steals and would take the ball the length of the floor and either dish off or score. She played all five positions at one time. For her to be 6'4", her ball handling skills are incredible. She can post up or take it to the rim off a dribble. She runs the floor very well and appears to be in excellent physical condition. I think they won by at least 30 points, so the entire bench had a chance to play. She is a VERY aggressive defensive player. Going to be fun to watch for the next four years!!!!!

Hey, Great!! Another Big Dog for the Big XII! It won't be long before teams in other conferences will be afraid to take on ANY of our teams!

What fantastic news to spark off the new season! Here's hoping that when Tiffany sets foot on campus in Austin next fall, she'll be joining the defending Big XII Champions! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks Double T for the goodwill. Signing Tiffany Jackson is huge for the Longhorns this year just as signing Erin Grant was huge for Tech last year. Truthfully, at Blue Star no. 5 and ASGR no. 22, I think Erin Grant was underated. I sure don't think there will be 21 freshmen players better or more important to their teams than Erin Grant this year. Then Tech went out and got early verbals from Robertson and Baughman for 2003 followed by Flowers. Texas needed a good class this year to continue to compete!

Oh, CarolAnn, I bet Texas does a little more than just compete with TJ in the house. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
Congrats to Tiffany and her family. Staying in Texas is a win for her family who will get to see her play a bunch more games in person and on TV through the Big 12 televised games.

Ditto doubleT....Thanks for the kind words. Of course I'm glad she chose UT, but I am even more happy that these quality players are remaining in state.

WELL, I got up early this morning and went to the announcement. Tiffany held it at her church in Dallas. Her mother was outside when I got there and I asked. She said she had no idea and neither did anyone else. I was on pins and needles. She came in about 20 minutes late and announced she had made a decision. The pastor starting humming the Texas fight song. Several jumped for joy including me. I met her afterwards and what a wonderful young lady. Very intelligent and mild mannered. She is really excited about coming to Texas. All her family were extremely nice and made me feel most welcome. SHE IS AN INCREDIBLE PLAYER. We hit the jackpot again. WELCOME ABOARD!!!

She may have the same kind of impact at Texas as Swoopes had at Tech. She's that good!
