Tanisha Ellison hasn't been mentioned yet and while Anderson got her points, she would have gotten more had T not stepped in front of her on a number of occasions. T was 3 for 3 and had a great 3 point play and a number of times had Anderson on her back. In the past T might have struggled and lost the ball but she kept her head up and kicked the ball out when necessary and worked her tail off on defense. When Anderson gets the ball on the low block, she's is almost impossible to stop...but T got in her way.

Tarr did much more than her 23 points..she got some key turnovers and boards and hustled all day. Casey was also instrumental with some key boards and outstanding defense...she and T did a good job with Anderson.

Vandy is terrific, well coached and versatile and they're going to give Tennessee all they want this year.

What I've seen from Tech in the last 4 or 5 games is a renewed since of joy and fun in playing basketball. Whatever was going on before the UNM game appears to be gone, the chemistry is there and they had a blast playing basketball today.

Agreed! T played a great game. She has always had so much passion for basketball and brings a lot of emotion onto the court with her. Cisti was pretty good in the first half, but was quiet in the 2nd...didn't get much PT after getting her 3rd foul. I think T played better defense on Anderson than Cisti...You're right, T kept Anderson from getting some of those passes down low. Casey was great as well...a lot of it doesn't show up in the stats, but she just plays amazing D. Casey had a great offensive rebound that she kicked out past her defenders to Nat for the open 3...was one of the many back-breakers in the closing minutes of this ball game. Everytime Vandy made a run at the ladies, they answered with a big play. Hope this momentum carries them into Big 12 play.

You hit the nail on the head Bball Girl. The joy is back! The unselfish play is back. The felling that everyone can contribute is back.

Just got home from the game. THAT was Lady Raider basketball. I thought Cisti and T played very well regardless what the box score says about Anderson and Klimesova. Someone said on this board that hardly anyone could stop Anderson. Well they were right, Tech didn't stop her. I'll take the victory instead!

Maybe Anderson was tired in the second half. After all, she is so used to being in foul trouble and sitting for periods in the game. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif (Thanks officials, you may have done Tech a favor by letting Anderson get away with some things.) I think Anderson had 19 points in the first half and 7 in the second. Much of that was T's defense. Not bad for a 6'1 defender against 6'6.

Even 5'11 Jackson guarded Anderson in the second half. Mostly, Vandy went to Klimesova in the second half. Obviously, she got her points, but Jackson and Tarr did well guarding her also. Vandy just works so hard to get those two players the ball, they eventually got their points, but boy, they had to work for it.

Tarr was the woman though. You are right Bball Girl, Tarr was the MVP of this game and it wasn't just her key baskets. She had a great all around game.

As Ryan says on the radio, Jia was being Jia. She put the dagger in Vandy's heart more than a couple of times with that little jumper. I thought Jia's tough man defense on McElh...(PG) was soooo important. Jia gets a game ball for her defense. McElh got the one three when Jia had to cover Early who belonged to someone else.

Ritchie's baskets in the first half gave Tech the points they needed to get ahead and the confidence to stay there. Good to see her fire that quick shot.

I think this was the 8th (7th?) different starting lineup in 10 games. This TEAM thing was a beautiful thing to watch! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Oh yeah. Does Jolee Ayers never get a break? She gets tagged for a charge on just an awful call, then, ESPN posts her picture on their wcbb page and identify her as Natalie Ritchie. We know who you are and we love ya Jolee, and it should have been a blocking foul.
