Oklahoma Fans:
Are there any Oklahoma message boards worth following? I sometimes would like to post things I don't want to post here. For instance, I would like to discuss the progress of our freshmen, etc. but don't think that's fair to impose on a conference-wide board. Same with criticizing ourselves or others.
I have been watching OUInsiders.com, but even though I am also a men's basketball fan, that board is filled with to much smack and not enough information for me.
Any others, or could we talk Insiders into putting up a WBB board?

soonerman......my favorite sooner board is www.soonertimes.com. (http://www.soonertimes.com.) Although, they do not have a separate board for basketball, and a whole, whole lot of the talk right now is football....they seem more gracious about women's basketball than most.

Soonerman,
You wouldn't be 'imposing' on this board to talk about how you think your freshmen are progressing. We've always talked about such things on this board. People may not want to criticize their own teams 'in public' so to speak but then, hey, those of us who are nosy are going to go right over and ease drop on your board anyway! I think this board took off, in part, because we didn't have active boards for most individual schools. A lot of schools still only have a few posters talking about womens hoops. I'm happy to have a board dedicated to womens bball over on Hornfans because it shows that support is growing for the women's team. I'll still come to this board and hope it stays vital.

There's no limit whatsoever about the discussions we can have here on Big 12 women's basketball - or really about women's basketball in general. If it's outside the realm of women's basketball, I just ask that it be taken to the off-topic board.
In-depth discussion on individual teams and players is more than encouraged. It's the lifeblood of this forum.
And to give a general statement on what's acceptable and not acceptable talk in this forum... first of all let me say I think this forum has progressed to a point that if something unacceptable is posted, well, that person is practically run right off this board. In other words, everyone is doing a great job at policing this board - and not just leaving it up to me. So, kudos to everyone!
Personally, I have no problem with things like the "Personal Observations you won't like thread" as long as things are said in a couth manner! Coaches comment all the time on how out of shape or in-shape athletes are. It's a big part of the game and if someone thinks they are out of shape, then that's what he thinks!
If we are disappointed in a player's performance, then so be it - that's our feelings. We don't have to berate the player, just state how we feel.
I'm sorry if players or families of players get offended. But, unfortunately, if they are coming here to read up on how the public or some of the fans feel about them - then that is what they may end up reading. They have to be prepared for that. And they have to realize that it is just some fan's opinion and not that of any coach or person affiliated with one of the Big 12 universities. Not only do we have to be wise in what we say, but readers need to be wise in reading what they read!
So, again, be couth and wise in how you say what you mean. You can feel disappointed or maybe even criticize when someone isn't doing their job. But don't forget to be lavish with your praise when players or coaches do a great job!

I don't know if I addressed exactly what you were getting out soonerman, but I encourage you to share your thoughts with us here instead of feeling you have to take them elsewhere. As long as it is basketball related, it's more than welcome here.
Posting volume still is not at a level to warrant breaking the forums down to individual team level. I can still easily peruse all messages each day. If volume where to increase by a factor of 10 suddenly, maybe additional forums will be added.

OK, I think I got it. I can comment on the Sooners ad infinitum. Those who are interested can respond, and those who aren't don't have to read it. If no one responds, I'll know I am boring everyone.
Would like to hear more about some of the North Division schools though, just for equal time.

These are really good points that every one's brought up....I didn't post at all on Sooner Boards until last year, when Sooner fans were asking for some information.
Hoopscoop is my A#1 favorite site for OU and all the Big XII and I don't know that I've ever posted anything at the OU site that I wouldn't post here.
I've certainly posted my share of criticism and praise for the Longhorns here at Hoopscoop during the past two seasons. Hoopscoop is wonderful simply because for the most part, it is rational discussion of the Big XII (except of course, when UT and TTU play and some emotions get out of hand - mine included!)
Don't you think the players and coaches have to get some good laughs out of reading our advice? I can just see Jody Conradt having a good chuckle after reading some of my coaching 'wisdom'.

Personally, I would hate to see this board split into individual boards according to school. It's much more fun being all together.

Just wanted to let you all know that Sooner Times has set up a forum strictly for "women's sports". Like I mentioned above, it is one of the only OU sites I really visit because folks seem to appreciate the women.
