Marta Dydek passed up UConn to go to UTEP which is quietly collecting good talent. There is a Polish assistant, anyone know of any other reason to go there? This was a name mentioned in connection with some Big XII teams. Were any Big XII schools really interested? Was UTEP to be a patsy on any BIG XII schedules?

There's a discussion going on about a mis-understanding of sorts if her scholie offer was rescinded at UConn after Sherwood verballed.....They don't seem to know though if that actually happened or not.
I think I read that the assistant coach was the main reason Marta was playing in the US; I may be mistaken, but I think I've read an article to that effect. I didn't recall any Big XII teams; but it's harder to track these JUCO players...Sibyl's site doesn't include the JUCO's. Doesn't Marta have a teammate playing at Texas El-Paso? Seems foreign players are more apt to chose a school with familiarity than US players.....like a foreign coach, a friend going there, a boyfriend going there. Seems last year that OU was after a juco post that ended up at a smaller school because her boyfriend had chosen the smaller school.

Vaida Zaguskyte is also a foreign player who signed with UTEP out of Seward. Vaida had also visited UNM before signing with the El Paso school. Lobos were trying to get Dydek for a visit. I think Green's past success with foreign players, a lot of foreign JUCO's Green has recruited to El Paso, the Polish assistant, Green's ties to Littell all made for her decision. Wish she would have at least visited here, maybe for the exhibition against Houston Flight last night with an announced crowd of 8555, I thought it looked like around 9,000 or so there.
