Not much was going on at the KSU end of the floor. A lot of missed opportunities under the basket coupled with hands made of stone. I must give a lot of credit to Ball State though. They were a very scrappy team. Their guards were very quick and they could shoot the three. KSU got out to an early lead before Ball State got back in to it and took the lead. The second half lead was back for the Cats early. They were able to maintain that, but everytime we would do something that could trigger a big run, Ball State would immediately answer.

The Cats did not play up to par at all. They played well enough to win, but they must improve. No doubt they will by Sunday. Wecker had another productive night with 20 points. Ohlde had 18 and Koehn had 13. Brie Madden was the bright spot as she made some terrific moves in the paint to get 10 big (and much needed) points.

Like, I have said before, depth will be the haunting factor for this team during the year. Tonight, Patterson played 7 with the starters getting almost all of the minutes. Our PG Chelsea Domenico did not play which forced Koehn into that role and thus limited her looks at the basket. She did well handling the ball, but was a little cold from the floor until she got hot toward the end of the game to seal the victory.

This season looks to be a long haul for the few and proud Wildcats, but it would be nice to see those ladies we signed this week skip their high school season and join us immediately. Unfortunately, we can't, but I know this game was probably good for them to see how hard it will be to keep up with the expectations of the fans. There was a pretty good crowd tonight, probably around 6000-7000, but I was still disappointed in it. It was probably hard for the people of Marysville to decide to come and watch Wecker and stay home and root for the undefeated FB team in the high school playoffs. Sunday, I will expect a much larger crowd. Until then, Go Cats!

I still think that K-State just might be the team to beat this year, along with the Longhorns and Lady Raiders. They were really good last year, even though they were so young.
