In all the comments on OU's exhibition game, no one has mentioned the attendance: 4,233! Two years ago, they weren't drawing that for conference games!

Oklahoma State drew 1,384, which all things considered may be even more remarkable!

Good improvement-shows what a successful, fun to watch women's team can draw. I know here at UNM for each of the three scrimmages there were over a thousand people watching. first exhibition this coming Saturday-expecting between 8-9,000.

Don't know what kind of crowd the Lady Raider's are expecting on Tuesday for their 1st exhibition game. Still, it should be a good turnout even after a loss.
Prediction:
Official Attendance: 10,387
Actual butts in seats : 5,500 http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

You know what was interesting is that the official attendance for OU/Tenn was about 8600. Way lower than what I thought it would be. I think had that game been played at OU, it would have been close to a sellout. That tells me the Big 12 will blow the others away in attendance again this year!

Yeah, OU is really packing them in these days. When I first started going to the games in Norman, you could get there 10 minutes before tip-off time, park close to the arena, buy some popcorn and find a great seat before the game started. Not any longer! I think that the past 2 seasons have created a lot of new basketball junkies. Hope the trend continues, both at OU and all across the conference. All 12 schools have teams who are deserving of big crowds, lots of noise and lots of support.

Apparently it used to be this way at Iowa State too. Now, at least for big games, you can come 30 minutes before tip-off, have to park about a quarter mile from the arena entrance, stand on a ten-minute line to buy popcorn, and squeeze into your seat high in the balcony which is the only place you'll be able to sit if you don't already have season tickets.

When I first started following ISU, the only sections fans were allowed to sit in were the sides of the lower section. The lower corners, ends, and the entire balcony were roped off. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Kansas has their first game of the season tonight. I'm a little afraid to come back here and tell you attendance, but I'll at least be there. I'm excited to see the new players and what we've got this year. If only I could corner Coach and ask her the real lowdown on the probability of Bright and Ervin actually qualifying to play next year together. I'll see if I can get any of the skinny..

Would also appreciate an update on how the Kansas team looks this year. I hope they have a better year in the Big XII than last year.
