Congratulations to Katie and to The University of New Mexico.

Did Yori make a mistake here, Nebraska fans?
"A number of programs, including Nebraska, wanted to see Montgomery play in December before deciding on a scholarship. Former Nebraska Coach Paul Sanderford offered Montgomery a scholarship in spring, but after he resigned in June and was replaced by Connie Yori, the Huskers withdrew the offer."

I'm surprised Iowa State backed off. Fennelly was rather high on her

As far as Montgomery and Nebraska? I had heard from some sources there that Nebraska's withdrawl was somewhat mutual. Nebraska was lower on the list and the turmoil of the offseason cooled any enthusiasm she may have had about heading to UNL.

Congrats New Mexico, you are getting a pretty darn good ballplayer.

I don't know if Yori backing offf was neccessarily a mistake, I would say a bigger mistake would be putting all your stock into one player who is recovering from a major injury. An ACL can slow down even the fastest players, and Montgomery was not al all fast to begin with. For some reason, Katie really brings back memories of Candace Blackbird to me (cringe), but I'm sure she'll be much more successful.

The real question is, does this at all influence where Jamey Chapman signs??

As for Jamey Chapman, in one of the Albuquerque papers she said she was talking to her about joining her in Albuquerque. Also that Jamey was struggling on a decision among four schools. For anyone interested I believe someone posted both articles on a Lobo women's board.

thanks, idlbfn...btw, we are keeping a watch over Preston.
We, OU fans will probably get to see her play a little on Thursday nite in the exhibition. I really liked what I saw of her in the 1st exhibition; she played really strong around the basket. I suspect we'll see more of her Thursday nite, since we aren't exactly preparing to play the #2 team in the nation the next time out http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

thanks for updates you can give us on Becky. Saw her play several times in high school and she has a real nice family. Hope she does well.

Katie shouldn't be a personality or academic problem. She needed the summer camps to attract more attention. She has to be happy with the New Mexico opportunity. Chapman is reported to be headed to Indiana. Jessica Gerhart from Fenton, Iowa is headed to Nebraska. Any info on this player as an indication of the type of kids Yori is getting?
