I really like the interactive stats accessable on this site.
Chose to check out the quality of each teams' Freshmen's contribution relative to playing time. No surprise, KSU's Freshmen more than doubled the playing time of any other teams' Freshmen.
% of playing time/game (200 min/game max. total):
KSU 72.55%
UT 30.8 %
KU 30.8 %
BU 30.6 %
ISU 23.35% all the rest contribute less than 20% of minutes
How can you measure the quality of those minutes? Debatable, but I totaled the "Hoopla points" per 40 minutes of each team's freshmen and was pleasantly but only mildly surprised with the following:
BU 116.5
KSU 110.0
UT 94.2
A&M 62.9
ISU 57.0
Tech 48.5
MU 39.6
CU 33.5
NU 32.9
KU 31.8
OU 20.9
OSU 13.5
Does it mean anything? Maybe not, but it looks like Baylor K. State and Texas have freshmen who are clearly contributing more to their teams (at least in regard to the categories measured by Hoopla).
Only 3 teams have "newcomers" (JC transfers)that show in hoopla stats. Nebraska 1; ISU 2; and A&M 3.
Add ISU's newcomers to freshmen and they play 45% of minutes and hoopla points total 87.5

Interesting post Bear Skin. Just for fun I ran some interactive stats also. If you do a search of ALL the players (not just freshman) and rank them by hoopla points, the top Freshman place like this.
# 3 Kendra Wecker KSU 21.1 hoopla points (and .560 fg%)
#12 Laurie Koehn KSU 17.6 (.489 fg%)
#14 Megan Mahoney KSU 16.5 (.548 fg%)
#27 Heather Scheiber UT 13.3 (.411 fg%)
#28 Katie Robinette NU 13.0 (.500 fg%)
#32 Cisti Greenwalt TTU 11.6 (.357 fg%)
#37 Dionnah Jackson OU 10.6 (.458 fg%)
#38 Steffanie Blackmon BU 10.5 (.487 fg%)
Remember this is ranking our freshman with all Big XII players. I included the shooting percentage to demonstrate that these kids are not backing into their hoopla points by just throwing up lots of shots.
I think from this run two things are obvious.
1. KSU has the top three freshman in terms of total contribution to their team, And
2. The Big XII has some mighty fine freshman.
Btw KSU has four players in the top 15 in hoopla points. Not too bad for a team still being picked 6th or 7th in the league. (including by me) I know the competition is about to get stiffer, but man, I sure am looking forward to the season. These kids are FUN to watch!

Interesting posts, guys. Let me point out that players can't back into their hoopla points by throwing up a lot of shots. You get penalized if you throw up a lot of shots and miss a lot of shots. One main reason why Welle continues to have such a big lead in Hoopla! points is because of her great shooting percentage.
In fact, it's the only reason that Crockrom is not neck-n-neck with her right now. Both of these players have very similar numbers across the board except in field goal percentage where Crockrom is approximately a 50% field goal shooter and Welle is now up over the 70% mark.

Would also be interesting to see Sr. contributions to each team, in the same way you looked at freshmen. KSU does have some great freshmen, but they are getting the chance to show their stuff partly because there is noone else there to do it.
Teams like ISU, CU, BU, and OU should have heavy contributors from the Sr. ranks, so will be losing alot more after this season. Yikes, though I don't want to think about that yet!!!

Well, I went and looked at the Srs. playing time as a % of total and here is how it looks:
OU 62.7%
OSU 55.8%
CU 53.0%
KU 52.35%
BU 46.0%
ISU 45.2%
UT 38.95%
TTU 28.7%
A&M 20.0%
MU 16.7%
KSU 16.15%
NU 3.5%
Also should be noted that ISU has 2 transfers sitting out that will be major contributors next year (Anne O'Neil and Nina ? from WIsconsin); OU has a transfer who was Pac10 Frosh of the year a few years back that should also help fill the gap left.

Sorry Schooner. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/frown.gif Chalk it up to a rookie (freshman) mistake.
In answer to the questions on seniors I thought I would run the Hoopla numbers on all four classes to see what percentage of hoopla points each class has for each school. Its early and these numbers will change but it is interesting to see the differences in the teams around the Big XII.
I rounded off the numbers and listed the teams in order of percent of senior hoopla points with junior hoopla points as a tie-breaker.
1. OU sr 71% jr 16% so 1% fr 12%
2. KU sr 62% jr 0% so 19% fr 18%
3.ISU sr 52% jr 33% so 0% fr 15%
4.OSU sr 52% jr 22% so 18% fr 7%
5. CU sr 51% jr 15% so 27% fr 7%
6. BU sr 49% jr 4% so 18% fr 29%
7. UT sr 30% jr 9% so 30% fr 31%
8. TAM sr 18% jr 42% so 31% fr 10%
9. TTU sr 18% jr 17% so 47% fr 17%
10. MU sr 12% jr 28% so 51% fr 9%
11.KSU sr 10% jr 0% so 22% fr 67%
12. NU sr 3% jr 46% so 33% fr 18%
