In addition, Mulkey announced that former Lady Bear and current WNBA standout Sophia Young's jersey will be retired on Sunday, Nov. 16, when the Lady Bears host Stanford at 2 p.m. Young was recently named first-team All-WNBA and to the league's all-defensive team. She averaged 17.5 points and 5.6 rebounds en route to leading the Silver Stars to the 2008 WNBA finals.

Kudos to Sophia! I've got my calendar marked. This should be a very special day in Baylor sports history.

Don't know who the (Dallas) Cowboys will be playing that day, but they're going to be on their own. ;)

Yeah, the news about Sophia was very well received by the crowd last night. It was a fun night. It was nice to meet some of the new players and their folks. Coach Barmore spoke for a bit, mainly saying that he was grateful for the opportunity to "put a foot back in the water," so to speak, of the sport he loved so much, and that he felt energized by the experience.

The start of practice is only 9 days a way, and the first exhibition game's in less than a month. I'm really excited to see the newbies in some game action.
