Non-Conference

11/9 Regis (Exhibition)
11/16 Central Florida
11/19 Colorado State
11/24 at Virginia
11/28 and 11/29 Coors Classic (CU, Minnesota, Drexel, UMASS)
12/2 Arkansas Pine Bluff
12/9 at Seton Hall
12/12 Southern
12/20 UMKC
12/22 St. Louis
12/30 Idaho State
1/2 through 1/4 at Paradise Classic (Honolulu) vs. Hawaii and Pepperdine

I am not really excited about this schedule. Looks like for the first time in about 30 years, no game with Wyoming. Tough road games at Virginia and Hawaii and a tough home game with Minnesota. RPI strength of schedule will be awful.

its not a bad schedule, remember it was last years soft non-conference schedule that got them to the Nit. I am not worried about the rpi, going into the big 12, because that will take care of itself.

Why did CU not have Wyoming on the schedule? It's too bad to see that traditional rivalry not renewed this year...

I'm counting 14 non-conference games, and unless I'm mistaken, I think that's one too many.

Probably where you got the 14th game, YCN, is on the Coors Classic. They show the 4 teams that will play but don't show what the games will be. It's not a round robin but rather a 2 round tournament. So CU will play only 2 of the other 3 teams listed..... 2 games on Friday : A vs B and C vs D. Then on Saturday the Friday winners play for the championship and the Friday losers play in the consolation game.

You're right. I don't know if I inadervently counted the exhibition or the Baylor game, but it was one of those two. :oo

To put it another way, there won't be many fans in the seats for the non-conference games, but there should be a lot of wins, just like last season. This year it makes some sense to have a relatively weak non-conference schedule as the Buffs are in transition. No McFarland or Putnina or Dow means a move away from the post as a focus of the offense. It will be interesting to see who, besides Spears, can be counted on to score.

As for Wyoming not being on the schedule, I don't like it at all. The game would have been in Laramie this season - so make of this what you will.

It seems to me that one of these years CU could replace the Southerns, Arkansas-Pine Bluffs, etc., on the non-conference schedule with DU, UNC and Air Force in addition to Wyoming.

I do like the teams coming to the Coors Classic :-), but beyond that only CSU gets me excited, and they appear to be rebuilding.

Unfortunately, it seems like every team has to have at least one pushover (i.e. RPI>275) opponent on their schedule, and some teams more than others. This reminds me of the NU men's basketball schedule 3 years ago, where we had pretty much only "directional State" schools.

And the conference schedule. A really tough start with 3 of the first four games being Baylor. Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. I wish we would get DU, Wyoming, Air Force, CSU and UNC. Those could replace some of the less exciting games and might get some fans in the doors. I can't believe we aren't playing Wyoming. That is disappointing.

At least the kids get to go to Hawaii and, hopefully, have some fun besides playing basketball.

Why I wouldnt mind playing the local schools, what good does it do CU? They shouldn't be recruiting against those schools, With all the hoopla about the instate kids going to other schools this year, none of them are local school, unless you call utah local. I also do not think du or afa will bring in more fans. There rpi probably is not that great. I think it is going to be a while before we see the stanfords, lsu and other schools that we used to see in the events center and while I would rather see them, How much does it help CU to loose by 40 every night. i think CU has to get people exited about their team and not somebody else. The kansas football team did really well last year with a cupcake out of conference schedule, and CU did well last year with a weak schedule. I wouldnt mind seeing the local schools rotate in and out, but more than one or two a year I think is a waiste

I would like a tournament of the local schools--round robin or true tournament.

By true tournament, do you mean a traditional 4-team tournament where the teams are pre-scheduled the first day, and then the winners and losers play against each other the next day? That would be interesting--how many D-I "local schools" are near Boulder?

Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Air Force

Florida used to do that in mens basketball many years ago.

Something I'd like to see..

A return of the Big 8 Holiday Tournament before Christmas

D1 schools are, DU, CSU, AFA, UNC, and Wyoming. I think a tournament would be good, it has been discussed on the mens side. I think it would have to run in conjunction with the men to be any kind of finacially successful. None of those teams draw well in and of themselves.
