NORMAN — I called up Sherri Coale the other day with a crazy idea.

Redshirt one of the Paris twins.

"Got any more great ideas?” Coale asked.

So don't get your hopes up. Sounds like the plan will go nowhere, and maybe it's better for the sisters if it doesn't.

But it would be better for the Sooners if it does.

Redshirting one of her twin towers would bolster Coale on two fronts. The 2008-09 Sooners would be better off, and the 2009-10 Sooners would have a franchise center. ...

When it looked like Courtney would make the Olympic team, having her sit out the upcoming season was not crazy talk. She seemed a little worn out at the end of last season; give her a break. But since it appears Courtney's not going to Beijing, Coale could redshirt Ashley. ...

http://www.newsok.com/article/3255770/From the opponents' point of view, five years of one or more Paris twins isn't too appealing.

I don't hear about redshirting very frequently in women's basketball, excluding medical hardships. Is it even rarer to have someone redshirt in a year other than their first year on that campus (again, excluding injuries)?
