Team Concept is an exibition squad led by Jamie Redd of the Seattle Storm and several other pro players but none high profile.

Megan Mahoney had a triple double, 11 rebounds, 12 assists and 13 points. She also had a steal, a block and a turnover in her 31 min. of play.

Kendra Wecker led all scorers with 31, plus 13 rebounds.

Nicole Ohlde had 15 rebounds, 20 points and 9 assists, some of wich were things of beauty. She also had 2 steals and 5 blocks.

Laurie Koehn scored 23 and Brie Madden added 10 off the bench.

Coach Patterson started Chelsea Domenico at the point with Koehn, Mahoney, Wecker and Ohlde. She brought Madden in for a total of 18 min. When Madden was in, either Domenico or Koehn would sit and, true to her word, Patterson went BIG. It seemed to work well but then again everything did tonight. It remains to be seen how B-12 teams will counter this line-up.

Freshman J-Mac (Jessica McFarland) went 3-4 for her 6 points and 4 rebounds in her 9 min. in this, her first game with the Wildcats. She looked good but she was not quite as fast as the rest of the team. On the other hand she is a strong kid and she gets to play "wherever she wants". Maybe a little more speed will come later as she learns how fast this game is played at the B-12 level. She did play good defense and seemed to want the ball. Everyone scored except Kimmery Newsom in her 8 min. She was much smoother and more confident in her ball handeling and defense however. Maybe staying in Manhattan and working with the rest of the team all summer is going to pay off.

Reyna Fortenberry led Team Concept with 18 points and Jamie Redd had 15.

Btw, attendance was 5,576. Not bad for and exibition game on an afternoon when the football team played KU in Lawrence and with a cold drizzel falling outside.

The Cats looked pretty good tonight. The Big Three of Wecker, Ohlde, and Koehn were tremendous. However, I think we can officially make that the Big Four. Megan Mahoney showed that she is capable of filling the void left by Rethman. A triple double in the first game of the season. WOW!

I thought they looked very good moving up and down the floor. The question of depth shouldn't be a problem, unless we run into injuries. (Knock on wood.) They started to look run down around the 6 minute mark of the 2nd half, but Coach Patterson will have that taken care of before the real season starts. They should be ready to make their way through the NIT.

I still think our biggest concern will be at the point. I know that Koehn proved herself last year, and Chelsea Domenico handled herself very well tonight. However, we are still prone to turnovers at that position. The pressure on the point was good tonight, but I don't think it will be anything like we will see in the Big 12. If Domenico continues to improve, I think we have the making for a trip to the Final Four.

Impressive. I think that K-State's Big 3 have to be the best three-player combo in the country.

Congrats to the Cats getting off to a fine start. Looking forward to the improvement that last year's kiddie kitties get from a year's experience of working together. Lot of weapons on this team...stay healthy and it could be the start of a very special year in Wildcat hoops...on the women's side anyway.

I would put K-State's big three up there with Duke's big three of Tillis, Currie, and Beard. The Duke folks have a little more experience but the K-State three have some solid fundamentals.
