Somewhat related, but it seems the buzz on several wbb bboards around is that Janice Bright is here at Kansas. Anyone know any info on this?

Bright and Ervin together would be pretty special.

ps. Thank god I found this bboard! I've had to haunt the Boneyard and the Summit and (egads) the SoCal board to find out anything re: KU and Big 12.

Am I to infer that we have a genuine KU fan with us?

Super! and welcome to the board. We have been looking for A Kansas fan for a good while. As a K-State fan I do hear a little more than some about KU, but trust me, my heart is not in representing the Jayhawks. Nonetheless, good luck this year. I hope we see a lot of you on the board.

A local sports call in show said that Janice will enroll at Nebraska second semester if she meets all of her academic requirements.

I haven't heard much about her for quitye a while. I'm sure both NU or KU could definatley use the services of Miss Bright. I guess only time will tell where she ends up.

Good to have a Jayhawk on board!

Woo and thanks for the welcome! I've been in Lawrence almost 12 years and follow the women pretty heavily (less than the men for sure). You might have seen me in the stands? The one who seems to have the whole third row from the court to herself? How sad is it that when K-State came to town last year, I got bumped clear up to the rafters. Gotta give K-Staters props for filling the Field House. We can't seem to get more than 600 a game, if that. But I'm a broken record about the lack of support women's bball gets here.

I'm very interested in seeing these new kids play, we need the help, that's for sure. I expect only 1 junior starting (Menguc) mainly for leadership, and 1 soph (Blair Waltz). Both are guards. I think the other 3 spots are open and depending on the ability of the freshmen, Menguc could be subbed out. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Erica Hallman made a push at the guard. Waltz will definitely stay in the lineup. We've been plagued with center problems for a few years, notibly last year. I sure hope we find someone who actually wants to fight for the rebound. I met Ebony Haliburton on campus over the summer, I'd really like to see her blossom, good kid. Curious to see how good Ransburg is and whether she'll play any. With all the young ones coming on, it's hard to evaluate how good the team will be, that's for sure. Of course, the most heard phrase around here is 'there's nowhere to go but up!"

So, the rumor about Janice Bright being here is just that then? She'd go back to Nebraska? Will be interesting to see how that plays out. I've been watching the Yori situation and wondering about the atomsphere up there of late.

ETA: Here's the link to the SoCal bboard where this Bright issue seems to come from. Serve with grain of salt.

Welcome FeFiFoFum. And spread the word that HoopScoop.net is here to satisfy our year-round Big 12 Hoop yearnings.

How odd is it (I hope I have this right) that up until last year no team for the men or women had either go undefeated or winless in the Big 12? And then the Kansas men and women break both of those trends in the same year and in quite different fashions - KU men are undefeated, KU women are winless.

Now that Tim Eatman is back in the fold, things are back to the way they were for the Jayhawk women. I'm sure they will quickly return to the upper-half of the conference.

Welcome FeFi!!! You'll get hooked on Hoopscoop in no time.

Congratulations on Lauren Ervin! If she's as good as advertised it will give Kansas a huge edge. Add Janice Bright to the mix, you may really have something.

The atmosphere at Nebraska? You lived it last year. One positive thing is that the kids on the Nebraska team this year actually want to be on the team and want to play. That's a far cry from last season when its seemed nobody cared.

"Amen, and we welcome you" to Hoopscoop. FeFi, things appear to be looking up for Kansas women's hoops. We should have known that you can't keep a good program down. Good luck this season. I'm looking forward to a little Hoopla action.
