Doors will open in Hilton at 2PM October 26th. Starting at 2:30, the ISU-Texas football game will be shown on the video screens. An autograph session runs from 6 to 7, and the shootout starts at 7. Admission is $5 for adults and free for ISU students and children 18 and under. There will be player introductions, a three-point contest, and scrimmages.

What a great idea Iowa State came up with....wish OU would have followed the same plan, they could have sold a lot of seats for $5 bucks for the televised OU/ISU game this Saturday.

The big difference between the ISU and the OU situations is that ISU-Texas is an away game for ISU and OU-ISU is a home game for OU. The Cyclone Shootout is usually after a home football game, and the game is not usually shown at Hilton. The football scheduling did not give the BB teams a good weekend to hold the shootout, so they are doing it the weekend of an away game this year. Since the game is away, they aren't concerned about taking away from football attendance. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif You could make a pretty valid argument that they wouldn't be taking away from attendance since the game is on network TV anyway, but I'm sure that is the rationale.

mred, I looked that up after I posted to see if ISU's game was "away".......

I still think it would be great if LNC would do the same, I really, seriously doubt that anything short of a nuke devise would keep an OU football fan out of their seat esp, since your team is coming in ranked #9....at least in one poll and OU has jumped into the #2 spot.

OU vs. ISU should be a packed house. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif ISU travels well in football (like they do in other sports) and OU obviously will bring as many fans as can get tickets. ISU has never seen attendance like they have this season, getting 51,842 against TT and 51,888 against Nebraska in a stadium that "holds 45,814".

You should email the OU athletic department with this idea. It's probably too late, but it's worth a shot.

I'm so glad this is the game I'm getting to attend this season. It was between it and CU, and OU has lost the last 2 games vs. CU that I've attended (in '93 and '95 I think--'93 was the year the Schooner tipped and on my 20th bday). ANd it's a double plus that the baseline bash is afterwards.
I'm looking forward to a fun day--Mexican food at Carlito's in Newcastle (Tri-City), the game, and then some basketball. ANd with a little look, I'll get to make the trip in a new used vehicle! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
