opened practice in the Ferrell Center on a new floor along with new score boards and a whole host of new players. It was fun to watch them on the first day of practice. The first thing that I was impressed with was their athleticism. Coach Kim indicated in a recent interview that they were indeed athletic and I could certainly see it. It looks like most postions will be up for grabs this season and I look to see several combinations of players at different times.

Stasha Richards is the only senior on the team and I expect her to start along with Stephanie Blackmon, Jessika Stratten and Chanelle Fox if she is healthy. Dionne Brown could also be a possible starter. I was impressed with Sophia Young, a freshman post player and with Chelsea Whittaker. There seemed to be several walk ons at the practice.

As much as I have been anticipating the play of Daphne Andre, the juco transfer, I have the greatest respect for coach Kim and her decisions surrounding the team. Hopefully Daphne will be able to return to the team soon.

Adrianne Ross from Hobbs, NM was making a visit on campus and coach Kim is very optimistic about signing her. She would be a tremendous asset as a point guard for the team.

I think the Lady Bears will continue to do well this season, even with the change of players. Coach Kim is someone who will get the very best out of her players. I admire her teaching ability. Baylor will do better than the preseason predictions. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

As far as ticket prices go for the Lady Bears, I paid 110.00 for each of my tickets this year. I believe I paid 95.00 last season(not sure however).

I would be very surprised if Dionne Brown didn't start. I always thought she would be a star, but playing behind Plenette and fighting injuries, she never got a fair chance to prove herself. She is an awesome person and one of the most athletic players I have seen. She was a national heptathlon champion in HS. If she stays healthy, she will be a huge factor in the success of BU. I was very sad to see her leave Tech's program, but I completely understood her concerns with playing time. She has the potential to be a star and I really hope she has a breakout season...even if it is against Tech.
