ok, enough of the beer, it ain't cutting it.......we are moving to the hard stuff.

Wow, have you ever seen a better tourney game as the one at the top of the noontime hour? Unbelievable game. I believe it might be the first game where the foul, shoot ft's, get the ball back, shoot a shot fast, foul, shoot ft's, get the ball back...actually wins the game and doesn't take a 5 point margin game to 25 point margin.
Absolutely horrible about Dietz, my Kansas State friends :( Hoping for a very speedy recovery for Dietz.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok, I moved. Surprise anyone? If it does, you don't know me well, and no one does really....ok, that's hmmm, going on and on about nothing, too little sleep lately. I moved seats over to the OU Section, which is behind the basket, front row, seat 1.

Interesting view. You get to see the teams come and go from the locker room; you get to see the Baylor Bear Mascot harrass the Texas cheerleaders...all in good fun. You get to see fouls called when there was nary a touch ;) Gives one a completely different perspective on the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, in this seat I sat in, the band for the higher seed was sitting right nearby. Apparently there was a Missouri band member that did not get the "sportsmanship commercials" the Big XII has been showing and was calling Courtney some not very pleasant names that remind one of a large animal. So, a friend of mine goes up and ask the band director what happened to this young man, as he did not happen to be with the band. Turns out, Missouri, didn't plan on being in the show Wednesday as they were not "supposed" to win so they had a completely new band. :D That's ok, I heard OU had to scramble to get up there on Tuesday. Don't these folks know not to depend on any single team and the outcome up here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Hotel jinx was appearing to continue, losing Kansas State and Baylor, but the ship was righted when Oklahoma State won...and later finding out there were some Iowa State fans staying here as well.......

and about those Iowa State fans, they had checked out, showed up at the arena, cheered, cheered, cheered, won, won, won....had to check back in. :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

We ate tonite at a german beer joint.....except the burgers cost $10 bucks, so it's far from a joint. Only been open since Monday. They stand to make a LOT of money. Wonder if the men's tourney will go the way of the women's and they'll be selling LOTS of beer to sad fans......or happy fans. I think they'll make a killing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at the arena, the dancin' jinx continued through the first part of the day: showed Iowa State, showed Texas A & M...not big dancers, but those Missouri folks weren't doing much dancing anyway. The dancin' jinx went away with Baylor, Texas fans weren't dancing much at that point.

Speaking of that Baylor/Texas Game: I should really learn to disregard anything dimwitted fans say at these games. But how do you learn who are the dimwits until you hear what they have to say. There were 2 Baylor fans sitting behind us that called a friend of mine over and said she looked like she knew a little about the OU women's team. He seemed pretty bent on wanting her to say that coaching was Oklahoma's problem. She asked him what had happened to Baylor their last two games. He responded that Kim had a little talk with the team and look at what was happening, they were leading by 15. This talk about our coach didn't sit well and my friend began to pull for Texas. She made the comment that she has never rooted for Texas in her life. Never did ask the Baylor fans behind us exactly what happened with that little talk. (like we believe these fans actually knew what they were talking about)

and speaking of dimwitted fans.......the team I root for has many. I'll leave it there.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seeing Beep-Beep Riley up close, coming full steam to the basket when you are sitting right dead in her path, gives you new respect for the young one ;)

Did I ever mention that my favorite Big XII player is Morenike Atunrase? Do you think her parents were thinking More Nike when they named her? What a neat young woman that has been an absolute joy to watch through her seasons with the Aggies. I actually have a lot of fav's. Decided tonite that Rachel Allison might be the toughest undersized post player in the Big XII and tough as nails Tisdale has really grown into her own.

Earneshia Williams was unbelievable tonite. 2 leg braces, 1 shoulder brace and she's diving up and down the court all night.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the final thought of the night: sure would like to see a champ game of Iowa State and Texas. Would like to see how the committee handles their seeding.

Oklahoma State is in the tourney, that's why I would be curious how 2 (last week) bubble teams would be handled by the NCAA. There's not a question in all that, just a curiosity that will be revealed on Monday nite.......

and I believe my get up and go is gone....

See you all tomorrow. Lilly's it is.

Good Luck to the Iowa State, Texas A & M, Texas and Oklahoma State teams.

Looking forward to more of the same good stuff that we've seen the last 2 days.

by the way, I caught a video of Coach Coale, Ashley and Courtney Paris in the media conference: sure know how to tear at a person's heart. Take heed my Sooner team: you are just fine. Tell all the naysayers to take a hike. Can't know the peaks without the valley's, and all many Sooner fans know about anymore is the peak. Maybe it's just our time in the valley for awhile. I might actually get more than a chip with 3 chili beans on it in the donor room if we spent time in the valley and I'm all about my food.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write that up and give us an inside view of the going's.

They'll have to set up a Blog for Hoopscoopers attending next year. Many of you do it well.

Can't add anything that SWOK hasn't covered - except as personal note. We have some tourney friend - see them at EVERY B12 tourney - who are long time TT fans. I almost fainted - they were wearing burnt orange last night! I just never thought I would EVER see them cheering for UT but they said that they have already come to admire Gail - if she isn't playing TT.

Which reminds me: Saw a Texas fan with a great shirt on last night: it read

GAIL FORCE!

I wonder if there is a way to pick up one of those t-shirts here in Kansas City? I really have come to be a fan of Gail's since they played in Norman a couple of weeks ago.

One final note from Tuesday: there was on OU fan sitting behind me. I promised if I heard her say the word fiddlesticks one more time, I was going to fiddlestick her to the chair. :D

The ISU/KSU final shot is on Sportscenter right now. Sure didn't remember all the KSU players down on the ground on their knees all over the court. :(

Thanks for the insight, SWOK.

I enjoy sitting behind the hoop, if the backboard doesn't impede vision. It is a unique and intimate view of that end of the court.
