Per KSUiron's request, here is a position breakdown for Texas Tech. Some of my comments here may be pure speculation based upon comments made by Coach Sharp.

1. Point Guard, Tech had problems with this position last season. Although we had a player who could take care of the ball and dished out a lot of assists she wasnt a great scorer and wasnt asked to be. This year will be totally different. We have the highly recruited Erin Grant from Mansfield and Juco All American Mik Tennal. Erin brings point guard to the game that can lead the team. She has great vision and is a great passer and expectations of her are very high. Mik Tennal is a jusco trasfer from Cloud Count Community College where she excelled averaging over 20 points per game. At 5'3 she is small but her quickness and strength make her an excellent player. She has excellent 3 point shooting abilities and the ability to drive the lane.

2. At the small guard we have Jia Perkins. Last year Jia seemed to have the sophmore slump. She was asked to play point guard on some occassions and was asked to shoulder more of the scoring. This year she will be playing her natural position and with less pressure on her. She also had an excellent summer on the USA junior team. Marsha stated that she was one of the best defenders on the team. Backing up Jia could be Mik Tennal. We could also see Natalie Ritchie in this position.

3. At the small forward we could see this position played by committee. We probably will see Natalie Ritchie get start. Her deadly three point shooting makes her a natural at this position. Over the summer she was said to have lost 15 to 20 pounds and gained some quickness. This should help her on the defensive end of the floor. Others we could see playing this position are, Casey Jackson(very good 5'11 defensive specialist), Plennete Pierson(will only see her in this position in specific situations), Chelsey Dabbs(a very athletic newcomer), and even Jia Perkins.

4. At the big forward position is undoubtabley, Plennett Pierson. She comes back from a season long with a better attitude and the will to make this her best season ever. Plennette is very athletic and two years ago was the leading scorer on the team. Backing her up will be Jametra Clark and Casey Jackson. Jametra Clark is a very athletic post player who is the heir apparent to the position after Plennette graduates.

5. Finally the post players. We could either see Cisti Greenwalt or Jolee Ayers starting. Both will play a lot of minutes an will help the team. Cisti did a lot of growing up last year and with a season and a summer under her belt, she could be a force to reckoned with. At 6'5 she runs the floor very well and has great hands. In her limited minutes last year, I think she would easily lead the team in points and rebounds per minute of play. Jolee Ayers is a strong physical post. Although she has lost 20lbs over the summer, she will still be a warrior in the paint. She has also extended her shooting range and has become a very good three point shooter.

These Ladies did not feel good about last season. Although they made it to the sweet 16 their expectations were higher. Their expectations are even higher this year and the whole team has worked to get better conditioned for the upcoming season. I for one, cant wait to see the Lady Raiders!!!:TTU

Thanks DBLTFarmer. I have been very impressed with Cisti and her progress. I think you have every right to expect great things from her. Jia Perkins is a special player. Her season last year just proved how much of a team game this is. It will be fun to see how this year goes. Good luck.
