42 Texas Tech
43 Baylor
46 Texas A&M
49 Kansas
53 Kansas State
55 Missouri
60 Oklahoma State
61 Iowa State, who's only solace is......

Complaints:

1) They factor in such things as "spirit-boosting activities", and yet they don't factor in things like attendance which indicate how much spirit has been boosted. Then again, myabe attendance is factored in, because...

2) ...they give very little detail on how they came to these rankings. They seem pretty arbitrary without more details. Obviously, the top schools are the ones that succeeded in several sports, but once you go down the list a bit it's hard to figure out why they ranked some schools above others. Then again, what do I care? This has all the legitimacy of a "Top 10 Beaches in the World" special on the Travel Channel. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif It's something to talk about for a bit, but that's all.

Hey, Chipper!

Does the no-bashing policy have to extend to the media, also?

Well mred, for me there is some solace in at least being ranked ahead of Iowa. Btw Chipper, do I have to be nice to the infidel Hawkeyes? Maybe this is going to be more of a challenge than I thought? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

I guess that this is "small" talk only because Texas was rated #1 for student athletes. Chipper, it may be tough to adhere to your new-found rules for the new season. Come on guys, wouldn't we all like to see out school at the top. We can all slice and dice why UT was picked as # 1, but the bottom line is...they were. Congrats to the entire schools making the list.

Well, I don't know about that. Believe it or not, I've actually seen the "Top 10 Beaches in the World" special on the Travel Channel. Actually, though, I think it was the Top 10 beaches of the United States and its territories. Their explanation on how they picked the beaches actually had a lot of merit and gave me a couple of ideas of where to visit. Probably more logic than went into the best place to be a student athlete.
