So Colorado state employees (or is it just university employees?) are no longer restricted to just a 1-year contract? Good news for Ceal!

"Under Colorado law, six university employees are allowed five-year contracts. At CU, three of those are in the athletic department -- [Gary] Barnett [football head coach]and head basketball coaches Ricardo Patton (men) and Ceal Barry(women).

The state law providing for multiyear contracts is in conflict with the state constitution, which prohibits such agreements unless the entire amount of such a contract is budgeted for a single year. Absent that funding provision, a multiyear contract does not legally bind the state unless it is confirmed annually."
