ISU Fans

I was looking at the schedule and on Dec 29th ISU is playing Duke in the South Padre Island tourny. Does anybody have any ticket information? Is there any travel packages being offered?

Also while I know all about South Padre Island during spring break, my days of partying are over. But how is SPI near New Year's? I've been to Vegas for New Year's and it's just way too crowded. I sure hope SPI isn't like that at the time.

I recall SPI being not very crowded around Christmas, but I was last there over a decade ago when I was around 10. My grandparents lived in Mission, TX, and we visited SPI a few times while seeing them over the holidays. I recall a lot of jellyfish...

Us Cyclone fans are hoping for a Texas bowl game around the tournament so we can make a nice long trip out of it. I'm planning to take two weeks off from work around Christmas/New Year's already. My wife, my sister, and I were nuts enough to drive to Shreveport last year for the Inependence Bowl, so a bowl game with the SPI tournament might be enough to make the drive worthwhile. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

I don't know of any packages yet, but I know there will be. I'm guessing there will be a university-sponsored one as well as private ones.

Duke has recruited great players. The key matchup as a barometer for the season will be at post. Duke will be an early test of the middle. As I recall, Iciss Tillis, 6'4" C, was a handful as a frosh. Bass, the new center that UConn also wanted, will provide support. Even giving Beard her due, ISU can probably play with Duke with the unknown quantity being in the paint.
