According to an article in the Sunday Norman Transcript, the Oklahoma women's basketball team will play at the Norman High Gym Tuesday at 7pm against the OU Association for Disabled Students - in wheelchairs!

The game will benefit the J.D. McCarty Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities. Admission $4 for adults, $2 for children. Announcers will be Bob Barry, Jr. and Brian Brinkley

thanks, soonerman......

I'm assuming this is seniors and alumni...I didn't think anyone else (playing next year) were allowed to use their BB skills to raise money.

Thanks for posting this info, Soonerman.

I told my parents about it (who live 1/2 hour west of Norman)and they took my 4 1/2 year old nephew, Dakota. He's in a wheelchair (though we think/hope he will someday walk unaided), so we thought it would be good for him to see. They just called to tell me he really enjoyed the game and watched it throughout. He also got autographs on his new OU Tshirt of all the players--OU women on front, and the OUDSA players on the back.
Dad said alot of the players talked to Dakota and were all very friendly and personable. Everyone was there except for Caton Hill, Jen Cunningham, and Rosalind Ross. He mentioned that Stacy Dales, Antoinette Wadsworth, Stephanie Luce, LaNeishea Caufield, Kate Scott, and Theresa Schuknecht all spoke directly to him and/or Dakota.
When I spoke with Dakota and asked him about the game, all he could talk about was his t-shirt that was signed and that he'd wear it tomorrow. He also said Stacy Dales' name (this surprised me--I guess he's sat through enough TV games and also heard my dad say it).
Anyhow, I think it's wonderful that these girls take time out of their busy schedules for such a great cause. I hope I have a group picture (with Dakota in the middle) to post soon--if that's an OK thing to do (should I get permission or anything like that)?

Also, for you long time OU All-Sports fans, the PR Director for the J.D. McCarty Center is former OU kicker Ewe Von Schamann, 1976-78 I think. THey also talked to him and got his autograph. I think my dad was more excited about that one than Dakota was. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Oh yeah, the women lost this one--the score was around 22-16 or 18? Dad said they had a guy who was really good and made quite a few "Stacy Dales-like passes".

Well, so this was quite a while ago. Here's the best picture we got from the game, the rest were cloudy and dark.

This was taken 3 months to the day before my nephew passed away unexpectedly.

Well, linking the picture isn't working and I don't know why.
Here is where you can see it.

Ok, so now the embedded picture is working and the link picture is bad. Geez, this is driving me nuts.

Anyhow--as for the pic, for those of you not as familiar w/ the players.
