Former Tech player Wes Welker tied for the NFL lead for 112 receptions and will go with the rest of the NE Patriots for a Super Bowl ring.

Welker's breakout season, in which he tied for the NFL lead with 112 receptions, came after New England traded two draft picks to Miami to acquire him over the summer. New England coach Bill Belichick said last week that he grew tired of seeing the energetic Welker terrorize the Patriots, so he took care of that by acquiring the Tech ex for his team.
A couple of our guys walked into Olive Garden,'' Tech wide receivers coach Lincoln Riley remembered, "and Wes was there on a date with some girl. It was either (receivers) Slade Hodges or maybe Brian Bishop. They walked in there and said, Oh my God! It's Wes Welker! I am your biggest fan!'
"They said the entire Olive Garden stood up and gave him a standing ovation while he was on a date. They really embarrassed him. I think he was pretty mad, but everybody was laughing about it the next day.''
