Outstanding! That is going to be a great way to kick off the season.

One major gripe, however. From the cited article I take this quote:

"Tennessee's opponent, the Oklahoma Sooners, are led by coach Sherri Coale, who, in five seasons, has brought three Big 12 conference regular season titles home to the Norman campus as well as last March's run to the national semifinals. While losing All-America Stacy Dales and LaNeisha Caulfield, the Sooners return all-Conference forward Caton Hill and last year's freshman sensation Dionnah Jackson. "

I remember when sportswriters took pride in their craft. Now it seems they are after the maximum effect that they can get for 10 minutes worth of research and 30 minutes of typing. Apparently, OU is still an object of disrespect in the national media; or, as I suspect is more likely, the press is so incompetent that they are incapable of giving a team its due.

I think OU's just like any other team outside Tenn, UConn and Duke, that make it to the Final Four and lose a big senior class. People/press assume the next year or two will be spent rebuilding. See, Notre Dame, Purdue, Penn State, and Xavier, of recent. There's really no crime in people thinking that and I don't think it's a blatant attempt to disrespect OU or Coale, but a natural reaction, especially since OU's real success has been in the past three years. It will take more than that to break the press' bias. They have to be proven wrong, I guess. I think all teams outside the above three all struggle for the respect they deserve.

Finals / Semifinals

Is there a difference? Just a small error. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif I'm sure the way they remember it, Connecticut beat OU in the semifinals and Tennessee (or Duke) in the finals. Isn't that they way it was supposed to work?

It would be nice if they at least got the facts right! Hasn't Sherri Coale completed six seasons at OU, and didn't we make to the national FINALS last year?

On the other hand, Texas Tech and La Tech are clearly relegated to secondary status. Not worth half as many lines?

But maybe we're being too picky....

You are right, but honestly...

"...run to the national semifinals"
Close, but no cigar.

"...in five years, has brought three Big 12 conference regular season titles home..."
Make that the last 3. And spell the conference name correctly, it is "Big 12 Conference", or better yet, "Big XII Conference." For the ignorant, we are a conference that has been fairly strong the last few years.

"While losing All-America Stacy Dales and LaNeisha Caulfield,..."
That's "All-American" and "LaNeishea Caufield".

"...all-Conference forward Caton Hill and last year's freshman sensation Dionnah Jackson."
Why is it "All-America" and "all-Conference"?

Oh, and thanks for mentioning that we have 2 players this year. We didn't make the Sweet Sixteen the last 3 years either, once by beating defending champion Purdue on their home court. It sure wasn't hard to throw in a sentence mentioning the fabulous-beyond-belief and undoubtably multi- national championship class that Geno is bringing to Storrs, was it?

And thanks for mentioning Coach Sharp's 20-12 season last year, it must easily have been her best season. Of course as a 10-minute expert you must know that Tech has absolutely nothing this year besides Jia Perkins.

And one more thing, idiot. It's Coach Coale, not "coach Coale". It is just like Mrs. Smith or Dr. Stevens, get it?

If I looked harder as this softpiece, I would tear it even more to pieces. As it is, I can't stand to look at it any more.

I could not agree more. The article was sickening. Are the teams playing one another or is Pat Summit playing? I really wish the media would recognize all of the powerhouses instead of just a few, which I don't need to name. I don't think anything was said about TT and La. Tech and their storied programs. Give us and the Big XII a break.........

"secondary status" LOL, not likely, probably the better of the two games!
