Just for fun, who would you pick on your Big XII Dream Team for the 2002-2003 season. Say you could name 12 players and there have to be six guards and six Forward/Posts. One has to be a point guard and one has to be designated a Post.
My picks would be:
Point Guard
Dionnah Jackson OU
Erin Grant TTU
Guards
Jia Perkins TTU
Laurie Koehn KSU
Lindsey Wilson ISU
Natalie Ritchie TTU
Post
N. Ohlde KSU
Jolie Ayers TTU
Forwards
Stacy Stephens UT
Helen Schreiber UT
Caton Hill OU
Kendra Wecker KSU

Some of these Lady Raider fans need to take off their red-tinted glasses; seriously, anyone who doesn't include Stacy Stephens among the top 12 players in the conference needs a reality check. Natalie Ritchie is a good shooter, but she isn't even a starter (up to this point); hard to earn "All Big 12" when you don't play a lot of minutes.
I won't include freshmen in my selections since they haven't played versus the other Big XII players:
Lindsey Wilson (ISU)
Jia Perkins (TTU)
Laurie Koehn (KSU)
Keasha Cannon (NU)
Dionnah Jackson (OU)
Karensa Barr (MU)
Plenette Pierson (TTU)
Stacy Stephens (UT)
Heather Schreiber (UT)
Nichole Ohlde (KSU)
Bjorklund (CU)
Caton Hill (OU)
Kendra Wecker (KSU)
Couldn't decide between Hill and Wecker, so I listed them both.

I don't believe anyone said anything about "All Big 12" or Best 12 players in the conference or 6 best inside players in the conference. I believe I read the criteria to be who is YOUR *Dream Team*. If someone wants to be a homer or select a freshman to their Dream Team, I think that is OK under this topic.

That's right DblT81. I also wanted a team that brought things to the table other than just talent.

There aren't a whole lot of true-blue experienced point guards in the Big 12 or in the nation for that matter. Aside from Jackson, I can't really think of a tried and true point guard. In fact, I can only think of a hand full of great point guards that will be in college this year. Tameka Johnson from LSU, Greco from UCLA, and Sara Nord from Louisville are about the only "pure" point guards out there. I guess that's what made Sue Bird so special, and what will make Erin Grant so special in the years to come.

I stand corrected. I guess I got carried away.
If your dream team is gonna have 4-5 Lady Raiders on it, so be it.
P.S. I think my team would be the best http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

NMy dream team
Point guard
Erin Grant TTU Techs version of TJ Ford of UT
Dionnah Jackson OU Great defense, gonna give opposing point
guards all they want.
Guards
Jia Perkins TTU Shes so smooth
Laurie Koehn KSU Is their a better shooter in the BIG 12
Lindsey Wilson ISU Too good not to be on the dream team
Karensa Barr MU Maybe the most underrated player in the
conference
Posts
N. Ohlde KSU Arguably the best post player in the conf.
Stacy Stephens UT The enforcer, Ayers of Tech a close second.
what a battle those two have had.
Forwards
Plennette Pierson TT All American waiting to happen
Caton Hill OU Smartest player in the BIG 12
Kendra Wecker KSU Underratted by some and make her teammates
look even better.
Heather Schreiber UT Best player on UT's team. Hope they
never realize this. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
I think you could take this team and beat nearly anyone in the country including a lot of WNBA teams
BTW if I could pick a 13th player it would be Natalie Ritchie, because of her ability to come off the bench and hit the three.

don't forget Nat has been a workhorse this summer and has lost over 20 lbs...been working on her defense and has gained a little more speed...it has been her defense that has kept her from going off for 20-30 pts a game...she never gets the minutes to score that many points because she is a liability on the defensive end. so, with that said, if she has become quicker, more mobile and has improved her defensive fundamentals, she will be one of the top shooting guards in the conference this year...just my take on nat --- GO TECH!

I'm surprised OU fans are putting UT's Annisa Hastings after Stacy Dales said she was the person who best defender her all year after UT beat OU in Austin.

A Dream Team fitting with my concept, "Total Basketball"
Point Guard
1. Lindsey Wilson (ISU) STARTING QUARTERBACK!
2. Dionnah Jackson (OU)
The cool thing about these two is, I can play both of them in the backcourt. Wilson is especially adept at floating between 1 or the 2.
Off Guard
3. Laurie Koehn (KSU) She'll be the designated "sniper" in International competition. That is what I'm building this team for. If I had to take a team into a FIBA competition who would I take. Laurie Koehn is like American Express. Don't Leave Home Without Her.
4. Jia Perkins (TTU). Can play the one or the two and can be a defensive specialist
5. Kerensa Barr (MU) Solid multirole guard, and defense well.
Centers
6. Nicole Ohlde (KSU) Her defensive play makes her highly valuble in an international contest because posts have to be more active and have to defend high at times. Ohlde interrupts a lot of things with her ability.
7. Jolie Ayers (TTU) Another active inside player. Can be the horse when you need her to be.
Power Forwards
8. Stacy Stephens (UT) She can also be the #3 center if I need her. She's a big Texas bull. Perfect for teams like Russia or Australia who try to intimidate and take advantage of the trapezoidal lane to be more physical.
9. Heather Schreiber (UT) Can be dominant on the offensive end and forces a defense to either play off or take on fouls, and that opens up a lot for our strong outside play.
Small Forwards
10. Sabrina Scott (CU) She's probably the best pure athlete on this team. Runs the floor, knows where she needs to be and I can set her up outside or inside. Against international adversaries that is a key advantage in that she can force mismatches anywhere. Now if we can find a way for her to stay healthy throughout pool play that could help.
11. Keasha Cannon (NU) Can do the dirty work inside. Penetrates really well and can find her way to the bucket and fill it. Just a good tough ballplayer to have who can do some dirty work.
12. Kendra Wecker (KSU). Tough inside, can score and won't get intimidated by people. She can also be useful when we have to go to bigger lineups and handle special mission (ex: Some Brazilian outside shooter who needs to be chickenwinged a little...Kill-And-Wreck-Her http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif)
Head Coach: Marsha Sharp, Texas Tech
Marsha's Red Raider team often have players who expand their role to meet the conditions of the game in front of them and she one of the better coaches in the country at reading game situations and making smart adjustments. At the international level, that's the key to winning. In my that's one of biggest reasons why even with the parity in international play. It isn't so much American talent, but more what we do with the talent in the framework of smart planning.

Chipper that is a good team you just need a PURE PG in there so I would add Erin Grant and Move Wilson to a 2 guard.

Has something happened since April that we OU fans have been kept in the dark about? Some of us believe that Dionnah Jackson will be the *best* PG to have come through the OU program.

When Erin Grant plays one minute in a collegiate game, she might make this team.
There's no proof Erin can play college ball...yet http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Thanks Chipper,
I'm sure she's great. And I'm sure Tech is going to be good this year. But so are a lot of other teams and other freshman. Let's see what happens this season before we annoint our superstars.

Consensus Dream Team -
I tallied all the votes, throwing out any votes for a player from the voters "home" school. Then I divided the number of votes by the number of eligible voters. For example, Caton Hill got seven votes out of eight non-OU voters for a percentage of .875 - Jia Perkins got five votes out of five non-TT voters for a percentage of 1.00 - There were 9 voters; 4 from TT, 2 from NU, one each from UT, CU, and OU
The Team
1.00 Laurie Koehn
1.00 Lindsey Wilson
1.00 Nicole Ohlde
1.00 Jia Perkins
.875 Heather Schreiber
.875 Caton Hill
.778 Kendra Wecker
.750 Dionnah Jackson
.667 Karensa Barr
.625 Stacy Stephens
.571 Keisha cannon
.400 Plenette Pierson
Honorable Mention
.375 Tera Bjorkland
.222 Trisha Skibbe
.125 Linda Lappe
.125 Sabrina Scott
.111 Evan Unrau
