I've been watching the Mystics/Liberty playoff game, and the Liberty had their way early with hot shooting and uncoordinated defense by Washington to take a 22-11 lead with a little under 12 minutes left in the first half.

The Mystics countered by going with a full court press that rattled the Liberty over about the next 4 minutes as the home team went on a 15-0 run to take a 26-22 lead. From that point until less than 10 seconds remaining in the first half it was fairly even, and the Mystics were still holding a 4 point lead.

The Liberty's Becky Hammon put up a long 3 - good! - with about 8.7 seconds left in the half to bring NY within one. The Mystics Coco Miller rushed the ball up the floor and fed to Chamique Holdsclaw who tried to penetrate the lane in the last 5 seconds.

Hammon made a 2-handed steal on Holdsclaw's turn move down the lane and streaked up the middle of the court, timing a 26-foot 3 at the buzzer which didn't even hit iron!

Washington is down by 2 at the half, but has to feel encouraged that they have weathered the storm. They should be ready to boogie down in the second half.

Definitely the definition of a playoff game so far; everyone is motoring at a very high level.
