Chipper Sez: YES! This is a good schedule!
There's no jabroni tour this year. We have maybe three throwaway games, the rest are serious ballgames that will test us. We could have used one more competitive road game, but overall good slate.
Coach Yori has a strong first four games. Grambling State will be much improved from last year and will contend in the SWAC after rebuilding this year. Rice is in a similar mode, and they have designs on returning to the NCAAs.
The interstate battle with Creighton is the "road" game (or as much a roadie as Omaha can be), but it will be a tough game because CU is a better team and there will be a lot emotion on that floor between the kids and between Connie facing her old club for the first time.
Then Drake at home. Nebraska lost their last two against Drake, and they have to come with a counter to Carla Bennett.
Down the line, Cincinnati returns their home-and-home, and the San Diego tournament will be a battle. Looking at what U of San Diego has done against Big XII teams that are light years better than Nebraska, this game is a good road test for us on a hostile floor right before the conference fight begins. I'd like to see us have a shot against Penn State.

Season Outlook: It now depends on the players. The schedule is competitive. We have new coaches in. There is much to play for. But now it is on the kids and these teams aren't jabronis (except for Texas Southern, Cal State-Disneyland and Texas-Pan American). The Huskers have lacked courage for two seasons. They don't have a choice this year...They must find some to do well against a slate like this.

This really is a good schedule. If nothing else, we will get to see some quality teams play against the Huskers in Lincoln. I think I'll have to make the trek up to Creighton to watch that game, it will be a tough one. Maybe Connie knows the secret to beating her old team. Rice is a great team, but they get overshadowed by La. Tech every year, Cincy will probably win Conference USA, Drake is great, and Grambling will likely be much better than they were last year. Isn't San Diego the team that gave ISU everything they wanted before falling to the Clones in overtime?

Good Schedule.
