The 6'5 center from Canyon HS has committed to Texas; source is Jerry Scarbrough of TrueOrange newsletter.

Wow, that's great! Anyone know the scoop? What is she like? Why Texas? Sybil's Site didn't even have her listing Texas as a choice.

I didn't even know she was considering Texas. Anyone know what her other offers were? I wonder where that puts us regarding the other posts we are recruiting.

Carey is on the top row, 4th from the right. She's no lightweight for 6'5. The word is she is a great rebounder, inconsistent with her shot. UT has good coaches and lots of talent already, so Carey has time to develop.
On the top row, 4th from the left, next to Carey is Tiffany Jackson #58(?). Wouldn't she look lovely in Scarlet and Black learning the ropes from Linden Weese! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
3rd from the left, next to Jackson is Leah Rush, #49. She would also look nice in a Texas Tech jersey! Rush will be a senior at Amarillo High, former school of LR Natalie Ritchie.
1st row, second from the left is Alesha Robertson who has already committed to Tech. The other Tech committment is Brooke Baughman who is on the same high school team as Kalee Carey.
That is one thing about Carey, she comes from Canyon, one of the top high school programs in Texas, known for its fundamentals and team play. Jolee Ayers, a rising Junior at Tech , is also an alumni of Canyon.

Interesting. Jamie Carey and Kalee Carey. Two or three years ago, we had three Browns (Edwina, Meg and Taryn). It only makes sense that the two Jacksons out there (Tiffany and Tyeisha)would come to UT.

HT-
I'm still hoping we have to keep straight Casey Jackson and Tiffany Jackson. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
BTW- I want to add that I think Kalee Carey is a good pickup for the Horns. She won't help day one, but Stacy can teach her to be tenacious and tough. The big thing will be -does she have the drive to become better? If she does, she could pay dividends for UT in a couple of years.
Look how far Cisti Greenwalt came from the beginning of the season last year to the end.
