...for the season to kick off?! I have been away from Hoopscoop for most of the summer, however; I have been watching a great deal of WNBA games and having fun. They play a brutal game. There are a bunch of players that I had never heard of and now I find myself rooting for them all the time. The Comets are still my favorite team. It has been interesting to see what the rookies have done this year. The fact that Lambert and Crockrom have not done much disapoints me.

Although Lambert and Crockrom are gone, I have high hopes for Baylor. I am getting anxious for the season to get under way and see how the new kids, as well as the upperclassmen respond for coach Kim.

It is amusing to read some of the recent threads. Some people can't seem to let go. It is amazing how every player on a single team is All-American material. I say bring it on and let em play ball.

Looking forward to the "Fall". http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Does anyone know for sure if Sheryl Swoopes was a five-time All-American during her college days, or is it a misprint? '89-'93

Howdy Zo, good to hear from you! Hope to see you in Dallas - I think I owe you some lunch. {And yes, I am reasonably sure that we did tip that waitress http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif}

I too have very high hopes for the Buffs, but until I see them play a real game I have no clue as to how well they will do in the coming season.

3 months and counting...

Swoopes was an NCAA Div I All American for the 1991-1992 and 1992-1993 seasons. That is in the record book for the NCAA online.
http://www.ncaa.org/library/records/w_basketball_records_book/2002/093-108.pdf

The NJCAA records online only show All Americans back to 2000. If Swoopes was a NJCAA All-American both years at South Plains Junior College, that would be for the 1989-1990 and 1990-1991 seasons.

If you saw it listed that Swoopes was an All-American from '89 to '93, that would technically be correct. The first season began in 1989 and the 4th season ended in 1993. Just 4 seasons.

If you saw where it was written that she was a 5 time All-American, I believe that would be incorrect.

This site lists Swoopes as a JC/CC Kodak AA in 1989: http://drchristle.com/wbb/kodak.html
I believe Swoopes graduated from Brownfield HS in 1989.

More than ready for basketball....OU basketball that is.

I'm with you all....it will be interesting to see how the OU youngsters anchored by Hill and Schuknecht mesh as a team.

Can't wait, can't imagine that Sherri won't employ the same style of basketball, the fun, run and gun game. Watching the Washington slide, I've waned a little in my "fandom".....just can't see that happening with the OU team, win or lose.

I can hardly wait! It seems like forever since I have seen my Lady Raiders. Sometimes I have to pull out a tape from the last few years so I won't bang my head against the wall.

I do watch the WNBA when I can, but it is just not the same.

Yes, I am more than ready. I agree, let's skip football and get on with the season. I think it will be a fun season and the Big 12 should be as competitive as ever.
