Just wanted to mention last night's Minnesota 79-70 upset of Ohio State. Viewing from a distance at least, it would seem that the chaotic turmoil and unrest in the Minnesota program of a couple of years ago has pretty much passed away. Senior Leslie Knight, who spent virtually all of her first two years on the bench led the way with 33 points and 8 rebounds.

On to tonight's games. I know a fair number of HoopScoopers follow the MVC at least to some degree. Illinois State 15-1 is at Missouri State 6-11 in a game that will be televised on FOXMW at 7:30. That pits the current frontrunner against the program that once was the pride of the Valley, but has fallen on hard times in recent years.

Some have asked me about the situation at Missouri State, but truthfully, though I do read about them a little more than the average, exactly what have been the problems (definitely plural) I really can't say.

Multiple defections coupled with multiple losses has not created quite the atmosphere that people in Springfield had grown accustomed to. It does seem that the last few games have seen a slight upturn in their fortunes.

Illinois State 15-1 is at Missouri State 6-11 in a game that will be televised on FOXMW at 7:30.Thanks for the heads up Dale8R! It's 31 - 24 MSU up with 5 minutes to go in the half.

I watched that Minnesota/Ohio State game last night and I thought that Leslie Knight got away with a lot of push offs on the offensive end that weren't called. The Buckeyes were down 13 and managed to come all the way back and tie it at 58 but then went on a mini scoring slump and never recovered.

40-40 at the half. MSU led most of the way. They'd run it up and ISU would run it back.

95-59 ISU. MSU had leads of 10 and 11 in the first half, but the Redbirds came back. In the second half ISU made the first run, and MSU didn't answer. The gap was 28 points at the three minute mark when the bench came in.

Maggie Krick, Soph guard from Washington, IL was something else. SEVEN for nine on three pointers, and added a couple of twos for 25 points. Most of those came in the second half.

Today's trivia. Probably most of you Iowans know, but Danielle Calef, freshman from Cedar Rapids Prairie is coach Pingeton's niece. http://www.week.com/sports/13835567.html

Did ya'll know Missouri State is building a new arena called the JQH? I didn't think the current one they played in wasn't all that too old. But this one looks pretty nice.
