Well, maybe I've been in a hole too long this summer or maybe noone has mentioned this yet. But Oklahoma could potentially have an incredible non-conference schedule this year. I heard tonight that Oklahoma will open the season against Tennessee in Knoxville. Game will be televised on ESPN. And that is what has Coach Coale most excited. She's made it very clear that she wants to play the best teams in the nation and even play them in their houses - especially as long as ESPN or ESPN2 or FOX or shoot, even ABC shows up.

Oklahoma will also play at Stanford - which is currently the subject of one of the longest ongoing threads ever here on HoopScoop. And if OU and UCONN survive the Hawaii tournament over Thanksgiving until the championship game, then they will meet each other in a second championship game (this one not as big as that one last March).

Another very challenging non-conference season ahead. Should be fun - except unfortunately none of those games are in Norman http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/frown.gif

I reported that OU would be playing Tennessee a while back when the Lady Raiders released their non-conf. schedule. The LR will be playing La Tech also in Knoxville that day. It will be the same classic that Texas Tech opened up against Duke last season. I'd like to go, but I don't think I would be able to make it with me starting school and all. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/frown.gif

Those would be really good games, RP.....I got a flyer on the Hawaii trip, I'm guessing $1200-1500 for travel/room....but to be in Orange land to see the red, crimson, light blue against all that orange would be a great thing to see. Certainly will be a test for OU, having played only 1 exhibition game prior.

Tech's trip to Hawaii for fans was going to be $1899 a person but Marsha really wanted to make this trip affordable to families so we got a REALLY big discount. I'm excited to be going in December!

Two questions for Sooner fans then:

1) Can anybody list what OU's non-conference schedule is according to info we know now?

I know:
11/?? Tennessee
11/26 Sam Houston
11/?? Hawaii trip - who does OU play first?
12/05 Stephen F. Austin
12/21 SMU
12/28 Southeast Missouri St.
01/?? Stanford

schooner.....
the exhibition games are

Nov. 5: Oklahoma Christian
Nov. 14: Exhibition

I found the Bertha Teague on ORU's site:

11/22 OU vs Tulsa
11/23 OU vs ORU

the Stanford game is shown as Jan 3 on the Stanford site.
the Tennessee game is on November 10.

I looked at Montana State, OU not scheduled and Wichita State does not have their schedule up.....2 teams that OU played last year (but not the year before) at home.

I don't think the Hawaii matchups have been set, I would think they would be posted at Hawaii's site, who does have their schedule up....here are the other teams:

Six teams that made last season’s NCAA Tournament are on the schedule, highlighted by defending national champion Connecticut and national runner-up Oklahoma.

Both teams will be featured in the 24th Annual Rainbow Wahine Classic, November 29-December 1. It will be Connecticut’s third time in the prestigious Thanksgiving tournament. The Huskies were tournament champions in 1995 and runner-up to Hawaii in 1991.
Also in the tournament are Denver, Depaul, Fordham, Gonzaga and North Carolina, which reached the NCAA “Sweet 16” in March. The Tar Heels won the 1994 Classic, after capturing the NCAA title the previous spring.

Sherri sure didn't hold back with this year's non-conference schedule. This is another great chance for OU to help gain the Big 12 more credibility. I predict that OU will beat either UConn or Tennessee, but not both. A win in the UConn game may be more achievable because it is on a neutral site and it is later in the season, which will give the sooners more time to gel as a team.
