Looking at the coming Penn State schedule I find the potential first game versus a ranked opponent in the New Yori Era.
November 28, 2002/San Diego, CA Torero Tournament
Penn State vs. Nebraska
Kent State vs. San Diego
November 29, 2002/San Diego, CA
Nebraska vs. Kent State/San Diego loser
Penn State vs. Kent State/San Diego winner
So far, I LIKE! Hopefully the rest of the schedule falls in line and we don't have a Jabroni Tour this season.
What kind of 4-team tournament is it that predetermines your second opponent before you've played your first?
Weird.

A round-robin type schedule might have predetermined second round matchups, but in this case I think that Chipper is simply forecasting an NU loss to PSU.

NU vs. PSU could be a good (and painful) learning experience for the Huskers. I will be interested to see how Keasha stacks up against the Nittany Lions and how badly a great scorer like Kelly Mazzante will destroy the Nebraska defense. This is an intriguing matchup even if it is the Big 12's worst vs. the Big 10's best (arguably).
I'm with you Chipper, when your teams record is going to be below .500 no matter what, it is better to lose to a quality opponent than to beat a team that barely has the resources to afford uniforms.

Hey, Laurie Koehn played more minutes than Mazzante in the games the USA young team just played in Brazil. I suspect she is just as good a scorer. Nebraska did OK against KSU last season, allowing Koehn only 8 points in 38 minutes in their victory.
You just never know. I'm hoping for a B12 win. Can't have too many wins against those easturn'rs. Go get 'em http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/nu.gif
