Here is the Box Score from the official Brazil website. Enjoy!

Estados Unidos x Venezuela (http://www.cbb.com.br/competicoes/amsub21f2002/tabela/geral.asp?jogo=1)

Not a bad L. LIVRES shooting percentage. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Pretty good 2 pontos percentage too.

Perkins and Stephens continue their defensive help with 5 and 3 FA.

----------------------------
Update:
Ooops. FA=Faltas=Fouls. I thought one of those others was fouls and Faltas was Steals.

What a fun site!
According to the Tabela e Resultados
for the Copa América Sub-21 Feminina Tournament
the Estados Unidos
will next play on 19/7
at 18:10 local time in Ribeirão Preto
against Argentina
on BandSports TV

17/7 the Estados Unidos defeated Venezuela 100 x 40

Técnico(a) Marsha Sharp had the Estados Unidos playing some mean defesa.

I see where Nicole "Ohide" has a pretty good game with 8 points and 9 rebounds, a block and 2 assists.

You would think that a website for a Pan American competition would be offered up in various languages, including Spanish and English.

Not everybody speaks Portuguese, but I guess it isn't entirely dissimilar to Spanish.

Some sites, www.google.com (http://www.google.com) is one that will translate a web page for you, but I translated an interview by Maria Villeroel a month or so ago from Portugese to English......and it's rather comical....I couldn't get the web page Dblt linked to translate.

LOL! Swok, I tried to use an online Portugeuse to English dictionary to look up the box score terms listed on the bottom. Only a couple were found-defense and assist, but those were kind of apparent from looking at the word.

So maybe they invented some words for basketball in "Brasil" that haven't made it into the formal Portuguese dictionary yet.

dblt......I have that article at home that I had translated, I'll dig it out and post some of the translations. I went looking for it, but translated some page with a bunch of naked people..... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
so I gave up....don't need naked people websites on my computer here at work.

Have you figured out what a re is?.....since there's a seperate column for rebounds.

I'm pretty sure RE is a "steal".

Super job digging this up DBlT81. It was not only way ahead of the official USA site but also a hoot. Thanks!

It's sad that the Dominicans decided to go home, because you can't get better unless you play good teams.

Maybe they weighed that concept against the horrible rout that was undoubtedly going to happen, and just decided to take the lesser of two evils. I feel sorry for their players, though; I know that they wanted to play, regardless of the outcome.

Venezuela is done with the group phase after losing their second straight game today, by a razor-thin one point margin to Argentina.

Argentina plays the USA tomorrow to determine which team is the top seed in the group for the semifinals. Both teams have qualified for that round.

The USA defeated Argentina to win Broup A and advance to the semifinals, along with Argentina. Brazil won Group B and Puerto Rico also advanced.

Our team plays Puerto Rico tomorrow, while Brazil plays Argentina. My guess is that we will face Brazil in the final on Sunday, a team we have already defeated handily in an exhibition game last week.

The United States Young Women's team put a severe beating on Puerto Rico today to advance to the final of the COPABA Pan-American championship.

We are assured of advancing as either the 1 or 2 seed from the Western Hemisphere to the championship in August next year.

I won't spoil the fun by revealing the final score, but rest assure, we "hung a hundred" for the 3rd consecutive game.

It appears that this team has uncommon chemistry for a group that has played so few games together. Heck, they even beat the Brazilian Seniors on their home turf!
