This was a game of "runs" with the USA starting in the hole. they got back to only being down 19 to 21 at the end of the first period. The USA put up a tremendous defensive effort in the second period and outscored the Brazil national team 19 to 4 in the period. After that the teams traded runs but the USA always stayed on top. Coach Sharp seams to be making the right moves in adjusting to what the other team is doing. Of course its not too bad to have Obaze, Perkins, Whalen, Schreiber, Stevens and Brown-Braxton on your bench. Ohlde was 6 of 8 from the field and had a block and a steal to go with her 13 points and 13 rebounds.
They play again starting tourney play on Wednesday at noon local. I think that's 2pm central time.

Thanks for the update. Do you know if those games are on an internet broadcast?

Ohlde is making a big statement. Stacy Stephens played 17 minutes while only scoring 2 points because she is a strong, tough, fundamentally sound defender as well as a great rebounder.

Sounds like Coach Sharp attempted to use defense to change momentum of the game. While Stacy Stephens and Jia Perkins did not have outstanding scoring games, I wonder if they were important in the defensive effort to turn things around. That's the problem with just seeing a box score, you can't measure the defensive impact some of these players have by just looking at rebounds and steals.
Anyway, I'm excited they won against some more experienced players. Hope they continue to play as a TEAM.

Imagine the offensive firepower you have if you bring in players like Jia Perkins and Stacy Stpehens for DEFENSE! Awesome!
