And well-deserved, to say the least. She has been a positive advertisement for the whole conference.

Note that ISU wrestler Cael Sanderson was named male athlete of the year. Also well deserved. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Has success gone to Stacy's head? I hope not.

Well, that site doesn't look like much (no ID, no affiliation) so I wouldn't put a lot of stock into it.

After the season, Stacey did sign my 4-year-old nephew's t-shirt (along w/ all the other Sooner Women present) at a benefit wheel-chair game. I don't care what anyone else says; she made this precious kid's day and my family will always remember that.

The fact that the person has not heard of the comma and cannot spell Asjha "Asisha" Jones properly also detracts from the credibility.

Cael should be named "athlete of the world". Nobody on the planet accomplished what he did in the world of sports this year.

Cloneman, the only reason he wasn't athlete of the year is that his exposure and influence was much more limited than that of Stacey Dales-Shuman.

His accomplishments assure that he is a mortal lock for the college wrestling HOF.

I hope he can continue his career by bringing some gold back to the USA from the Olympics in 2004, 2008, 2012...

And speaking of Dales-Shuman and autographs, check out this link: http://user.auctions.shopping.yahoo.com/show/auctions?userID=wnba_auction&u=%3awnba_auction

I've never known Stacey to be anything but gracious to fans.....

hmmmmmm, I seem to recall when Washington visited Los Angeles....
Stacey had a stomach virus of some sort and hadn't eaten in 2 days; perhaps this particular fan needs to know that she's actually lucky that Stacey didn't throw up on her http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

At the risk of getting excoriated, Cael Sanderson did accomplish a great feat in his sport and his recognition is all deserved. However, for those who think he may be the greatest ever, how do we know? Wrestling has been a dying sport for 20 years. If he had wrestled during a more competitive era like the 60's or 70's, would he have been as successful? I don't know.

Absolutely. The numbers of kids wrestling is actually at an all-time high. The only place where the sport is declining in numbers is the college scene. This actually means that the guys at the D1 level are better than ever, because only the VERY best are going to get to wrestle D1.

Every wrestler from the past sais Cael is the best they've ever seen. Dan Gable is a pretty good authority on such things, and Dan sais he's never seen a wrestler like Cael (including himself). The kid's a monster. He's a 197 pound wrestler with the speed and flexibility of a 145 pounder. Bobby Douglas (ISU coach and ex-Olympian) sais Cael is so quick, that when he shoots on your legs, he simply disappears. At that level, to win 159 times in a row is mind-boggling.

Anyway, simply put, he is the best ever in the sport. It's just evolution, I guess. Now back to basketball......
