Nov. 10: Johnson Financial exhibition, 2 p.m.
Nov. 17: NW Missouri exhibition, 2 p.m.
Nov. 24: St. Francis (Pa.)
Nov. 27: Drake
Dec. 4: at Iowa, 7 p.m.
Dec. 8: at Northern Iowa
Dec. 13-14: Pella Cyclone Classic (Centenary, Colgate, High Point)
Dec. 22: at Washington, 3 p.m.
Dec. 28-29: South Padre Tournament (Duke, Detroit Mercy, ISU and tba)
Jan. 2: Marquette
Jan. 5: South Florida, 2 p.m.

On one hand you have Centenary, whom Texas almost beat by triple-digits a year or two ago. On the other hand, ISU will also be favored to play Duke, an early preseason favorite for the national championship. Also included are the obligatory games against UNI, Iowa, and Drake (all good teams), a home game against Marquette to repay the away game last season, a trip to Washington (who made the NIT last season) for Lindsey Wilson, and a game against St. Francis (PA), whom ISU beat in the first round of the NCAA tournament a few years ago (when Jess Zinobile was a senior there). Lastly, there is South Florida. As we determined in a thread several weeks ago, South Florida is one of a handful of schools who ended the season with a victory, since they finished so low in the C-USA standings that they did not make the conference tournament. That is the most interesting thing I have to say about South Florida.

I really hope ISU plays Duke. Duke, Iowa, and Drake (most likely the three best teams on the schedule) don't make up a killer non-conference schedule, but it could be worse.

I'm sad ISU dropped the series with Creighton. I understand that it can really tie your hands when you have four annual series to maintain (as ISU did with Creighton, Iowa, Drake, and UNI), and if any of the four had to be dropped then Creighton is the obvious choice. Still, I would have preferred all four remain.

Actually, there are quite a few interesting things that could be said about South Florida. However, they all revolve around a nasty racial scandal that culminated last season, so I think I'll just let it pass.

Ah. That was South Florida, wasn't it? I remember that now...

The reason St. Francis (Pa.) is on the home schedule is to bring Sami Allison (Fairfield H.S.)and Jessica VanderLeest (Solon) back home. Two former Kirkwood C.C. players.

What ISU didn't like the weather here in CA in Dec? Why not come out here for Thanksgiving? Much better than being in Ames during Thanksgiving.

Three bad things about the San Diego trip - Even though winning (2 in overtime?) the sisters gave warning of the season long struggles. They arrived home exhausted and lost in Hilton. Worst of all - the San Diego announcers - my ISU internet connection wasn't good so I listened to the San Diego broadcast - the announcers abandoned all pretense of broadcasting, became rapid fans and just left the mic open.

The game against San Diego was something else. When was the last time a team had 29 turnovers and won?

OU went to a double overtime in the 2000/2001 season with San Diego before eeking out a win 65-63.....at the time I think San Diego's RPI was around 250, which made NO sense why that was such a tough game.
