Always a dangerous place for the Lady Raiders - we're 2 of 3 in Columbia.
Unlike a few other fans, I'm enjoying Maria Moore - she's got good court sense, handles the ball well and appears to have little fear. She doesn't always make the best decisions with the ball - but the only way she's going to learn is to have the ball in her hands in tough situations. I thought she played better against Baylor.
She's leading the team in turnovers, but she's also leading the team in assists and steals. She'll learn.

This is the 15th meeting between Texas Tech and Missouri, with the Lady Raiders holding a 10-4 advantage. But the Tigers have won two of the last three meetings and hold a 3-2 advantage in Columbia, Mo. ... The Tigers have two of the Big 12 Conference's top eight scorers in Alyssa Hollins and Jessra Johnson, but they rank last or second-to-last in the league in several statistical categories. Missouri is the only team in the Big 12 that has been outscored and out-rebounded this season, and its opponents are shooting better than 40 percent from the field and 3-point range. The Tigers rank third in the league in 3-point shooting (35.5 percent). Texas Tech, meanwhile, is outscoring opponents by nearly 16 points per game and out-rebounding them by more than 11 per game. Forward Dominic Seals is the Big 12's second-leading rebounder (9.4 per game) and 11th-leading scorer (14.3).
Go TECH!

I know almost nothing about Mizzou this year except that no one thinks they're any good. That probably makes them especially dangerous to the Lady Raiders who always seem to have a couple of those oops! games where they get beat by someone who should not be anywhere close to them.
(I still remember Tech beating OSU by 63 and then losing to OSU a few weeks later.)
Tech should run away with this. But nothing would surprise me.

One good thing about having a new team; they don't know where they're supposed to be intimidated.
Erin, Teddy, and Tiny are probably the only Lady Raiders who've been there before. Brock is probably the only one on the coaching staff who has.

Didn't we play in Columbia once before since Jordan Murphree joined the team?

The last time we won in Columbia was 2004. We lost to Mizzou twice in 2005 - once in Columbia and once in the Big 12 tourney. We beat Mizzou in Lubbock last year.
I think this is also our first visit to the new Mizzou Arena - so maybe the bad luck stayed in the old arena.

The best of both worlds - listening to Ryan and watching the Mizzou videocast on mute!

RaiderVision sent me an email ad for the game. I can't do video on this machine. Is it working for anybody?

Scary moment - Seals went down, helped off the court - but appears to be ok.

Well the bad luck charm in Columbia strikes again in the form of 9 3 pts goals by Mizzou. Mizzou getting pts at the line now - Tech went completely cold

8 points in 12 and a half minutes.... that's how you lose to the worst team in the Big 12... I don't know what changes they are, but changes need to be made... 3 games in a row where we have absolutely sucked against teams we should have beaten...

9 3-point goals yes... but only one of those in the last 12:34 of the game, at which point Tech had a 9 point lead... and was outscored 26-8 the rest of the way... even with a lot of rather questionable traveling calls, that is completely unacceptable...

Wow...Mizzou wins 68-59.
Yep. Lady Raiders went cold for the last seven or eight minutes.
The emphasis on "traveling" is going to make things tough for teams who depend on their inside-out and post games.
My My My! Where is that talk about 4 automatic wins that north teams could count on v KSU & MU and how that gave the other north teams an advantage?
Congrats Mizzou.

If Tech keeps playing like this, you can knock it down to 3 guaranteed wins for north teams over MU and Tech...

ROFL...... The conference certainly has started off with a bang, hasn't it? I'm just glad I can find the fun and excitement in it even though my squad has been one of the teams to get "bitten."

We will all get bitten soon enough methinks. ;)
What a start to the conference year! With all due respect to the Cowgirls and Tigers I did not see todays results coming. OSU beating OU, in Chipper's elegant phrase, "like a rented mule" was a shock to me. Fasten your seat belts. Its going to be a bumpy ride.

I guess CU truly escaped from Columbia.
Better re-think K State versus Texas tomorrow.

No, CU did not escape from Columbia. Don't read more into this win than what it really was. Tech dominated MU the entire first half, and the only reason it wasn't a 15-20 point lead at the half was because of sloppy defense that gave up 7 uncontested 3s. In the second half, Tech tightened up the defense and had a 9 point lead, even with 8 3s, with 13 minutes left to go. Then inexplicably Tech completely folded up the rest of the game, turning it over over and over and over again (although I still would have liked to see exactly what Dominic was doing when she kept getting called for traveling on all of those easy layups). But don't let it fool you. Any other team in the Big 12 will beat Tech by 30 at least if we have another 10-minute meltdown like that again.

Count me among the amazed. I had written off Missouri as looking at an oh fer season. Shows how much I know about it.
Amanda Hanneman had to be the biggest surprise to me. I know she was way down on the end of the bench a year ago, and now . . .

"When they get tired of feeling the way they're feeling tonight," Tech head coach Kristy Curry said of her players, "they'll do something about it."
Relentless pressure defense sparked the turnaround for the Tigers, who scored 31 points off 25 turnovers by Tech. Fourteen of those turnovers came in the second half.
"I thought our defensive energy was really good," Missouri head coach Cindy Stein said. "Our kids had some really good traps out there, made some good reads on rotations, got some steals and got us rolling a lot."
Hollins, who scored 20 points in a loss against Tech last year, admitted that facing the Lady Raiders brings out her best.
"I grew up with the Big 12 South, so it's always added (motivation)," she said. "I'm an old head now - it's another game - but I remember watching Texas Tech back in the day. Erin Grant was one of my idols in high school, so it's a big deal still."
"I felt like at the half, we have only nine rebounds and we're only down three, that felt pretty good," Stein said, "because we didn't play well in the first half, and we were out of sync."
"There's a couple people in our league that are 0-2," Curry said. "So do we just all go to the house for 14 games and put the TV on? I think we're going to stay positive, keep teaching and keep working. We feel like we have a lot to look forward to."
