Tawanna Flowers was assisting with practices this fall and on the bench in a support role for every game. I can see how she is ready to take her degree and get moving with the next phase in her life. Just as Darrice Griffin did this fall, working on her new career.

I respect Coach Curry and Texas Tech for sticking by these two injured players and continuing their scholarships until they were ready to move on.

Best wishes to Tawanna with her certification. We need more great teachers!

My heart still aches for that young lady. No one tried harder to come back, contribute, encourage, or assist the Lady Raiders than she did. May only good things come her way now. Tawanna has earned it many times over.

Amen, '79. She was the soul and fire even when she couldn't suit out.
I really thought she had captured LaToya Davis' intensity, and it showed on the court as well as off.

I remember TF's freshman year when she spent the year in a boot - that's when I went to practice a couple times a week. I saw her stand on one leg and drain 3 pt shots which Coach Weese rebounded for her. She was funny and patient. I'm sorry she never really got to show the game I know she once had. I'm glad to see her moving on.

I remember TF's freshman year when she spent the year in a boot. . . .
I went to two or three games that year. Saw her on crutches during the pre-game warmups but trying to make herself useful any way she could.

Then I moved to California for three years.

I come back this year and she's out.
I never got to see her play in person. :(

Tawana seems like a great young lady and I wish her the best.
