Congrats to MsProudSooner for taking Session 1. We had 35 entries, a new record! Thanks for playing!
Five people scored more points than the 81.5 point limit: MsProudSooner, browlewis, mgood1, Bob_Ballew and 35TangoTango. Congrats!
As a reminder, the Overall Score is a normalized scored. It is normalized to the average point limit for all rounds. Point limit this round was 81.5, so if you scored 81.5 (not possible, but if you did) your normalized score would be 100. Those scoring better than 81.5 points have normalized scores above 100, and vica versa. The normalized score is necessary because the point limit changes from session to session.

I thought I was going to do worse that that, for sure! Is it possible to see how our scores were calculated?

It's really not too hard, brolewis. Because the maximum allowable points for the players that you select varies throughout the contest, Hoopscoop just wanted to make each session count the same, so the scores are normalized.
The normalized score is the percentage of the points you scored relative to the maximum allowable points for a roster for the session.
In my case for instance, I had 73 points. Since the allowable was 81.5, my normalized score was 73 divided by 81.5. For me that was .896, or 89.6 when expressed as a percentage. If your score was to exactly match the allowed points for your roster, your score would be 100, or 100% of allowed roster points.

I was wanting to know what each player scored so I could see how my raw score was tallied.
The formula for each player is field goals + free throws + rebounds + assists + blocks + steals + points - field goal attempts - free throw attempts - turnovers.
That gives you a "Hoopla" score for each player for each game.
In shorthand, the formula looks like this:
FG+FT+REB+A+BLK+S+PTS-FGA-FTA-TO

Actually, the rules page says "Hoopla! Points = Total points scored + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks - turnovers - missed field goal attempts - missed free throws"
So we don't count Field Goals Made or Free Throws made, just the resulting points.

Yes, that is the correct equation for Hoopla! points, 35TangoTango and you too YCN. Ya'll are both saying the same thing. Field goals made (FGM) - Field goals attempted (FGA) is the same thing as "missed field goal attempts".

Here you go brolewis. I will be posting one comprehensive box score for the entire Big 12 after each round or session. As you can see, Britney Spears had the best game, according to Hoopla! points, of all Big 12 players. Anybody want to insert an obvious joke or two here? Maybe we should have a contest for that?

Yes, that is the correct equation for Hoopla! points, 35TangoTango.
That's strange, because when I use FG+FT+REB+TP+A+BLK+S-FGA-FTA-TO
I get the correct numbers. It's always been that way. The stated formula is not the one that's being and has been used.

Here is a list with players' information (position, team, etc.) along with average HPLA score (H-Avg) going into this game and how much over (+) or under (-) they performed relative to their average (this is in the "(+/-)" column.
Players that did not play have a "DNP" in the appropriate column. I will combine this list with the one above into one boxscore list in the future.

You are both using the same equation. Yours is just rearranged from 35TangoTango's.

This is what I was looking for earlier because I knew that Rachel had a big loss (in terms of Hoopla! points) and was surprised I finished ahead.
YCN, thanks for culling my numbers together. I appreciate it!

Purely an accident, I assure you! No research - look at the schedule and see who's playing who and where. Then, try to fit some folks together that come under the points limit!

Don't forget that only the top 13 of 17 session scores will be used in the overall point total. We all get to erase our 4 lowest scores. And we all have our bad rounds :D
