next year will be, I predict, Theresa Schuknecht of the University of Oklahoma. Not saying that she will be the best newcomer in the conference altho she might be. Only hard core wbb fans even know she is at OU and even those that do, I don't think know how good this girl can be. Dropped by the OU camp this morning and watched Theresa do some drills for the campers. She is much more athletic then I thought and looks to have added some muscle which she really needed. Still a little thin but I guess she is working like a demon in the weight room. Word from the other girls is that she dominates the pick up games. OU will have at least three high level Big 12 players in Theresa, Caton Hill and D. jackson and if Maria Villarroel is the real deal, OU will be right in the middle of the fight for the Big 12 title. The word on Maria so far is she has three speeds, fast, faster and fastest. OU coaches are very excited about next years team. They believe they will have more talent and depth then last year. I personally don't know about that and for sure it will be less experienced but I will have to admit the Sherri probably knows a little bit more than the old CYNIC. The one thing that last years team had was GREAT TEAM CHEMISTRY. I just don't think you get that every year and time will tell if OU will have it this coming year.

thanks, cynic....I heard Jan Ross on KREF last week and she said the same things you are saying about Schuknecht.
I didn't realize that coaches can't even peep in the windows overlooking the practice courts in the summer.

Hmmm...while it's much to early to speculate on Player of the Year and related awards, it's entirely possible that OU will have two top candidates for Newcomer of the Year, if not POY. Though right now, I think there are several other players at other schools that would be favorites for POY (Wecker, Ohlde, L Wilson, come to mind).
I'm trying to think of other jucos or transfers at other schools who would contest this.
Anne O'neill? Depends on recovery from knee injury.
OSU has quite a few jucos, but I don't know the caliber of any of them.
Jamie Carey? As pointed out on another thread, she has been off of bball for 2 years so who knows what kind of immediate impact she'll have.
Doesn't Colorado have a top Juco transfer?

Interesting post CYNIC. I heard previously the WNBA scouts are very interested in her based on her performance at Arisona and Southern Nazerene. I was surprised at her height when I stood with her at the post-season awards banquet this spring. I am 6' 3" and she is about the same height as I am and she was wearing flat heel shoes.

I also heard from some watching this week's camp at OU that incoming freshman Erin Higgins was very impressive in shooting the 3-point shot. She apparently had everyone ooohhhhing and aahhhing as she was draining shots left and right. Erin Higgins is still recovering from an ACL injury and had a leg brace on.
