I watched the Portland and Seattle game yesterday and had no idea Jackie was that far off her form due to wrist surgery. I felt really sorry for her because you could tell it was killing her. Naturally, Tafoya was all over that and mentioned that the injury could be "career changing", if not, "career ending". I just didn't realize how serious it was. One thing we do know is that she'll work hard to get it back if it's possible. I hope it's possible.
Sue Bird looked pretty good, made a few mistakes, but certainly ready for the this level. I really enjoy watching her paly, but I could hardly stand listening to Tafoya though, gush about her. I wish the commentators would just allow these rookies to makes mistakes without trying to justify why they made a bad pass.

I like Sue Bird (a lot), but 6 - 20 (0 - 6 from three point range) is not rookie of the year stuff! She obviously has the green light to shoot as much as she wants.
I agree about women's game announcers - they spend more time looking for an angle and dramatizing it than they do watching the game.

Right now with Lauren Jackson injured, I'm not sure there is another consistent scorer on Seattle's team. Once Lauren gets back, which should be in the next game or two, some of the load will be taken off of Sue Bird.
Press, watching Jackie play yesterday was really disconcerting to me, because she really looked terribly worried about it all on the bench.
I'm sure it isn't easy to score 1 point when your previous career low is 4, but Jackie has to get her mind into a different frame.
She may need to take some time off to recover, and maybe even have her wrist re-evaluated for possible problems with her recovery. The type of competitor that she is, of course she is worried. But she needs to realize that there are very few types of injuries than can end her career, and a wrist is not normally one of them.
I just wish her luck in her recovery. I know that things will be right in the long run.

Jackie Stiles didn't play last night, the broadcasters mentioned she also has an achilles injury of some sort that seems to bothering her even more than her wrist. I think it was wise of Portland to give her some rest. She travelled with the team to LA but was in street clothes with some sort of boot on her foot.

I really hope, for Jackie sake and the sake of the Fire, that they decide to get Jackie the surgery she needs now and just let her sit the season out. Her wrist (and maybe now her foot) is bothering her so much that she just cannot perform at the level we're used to seeing.
