Another instate game for ISU this one on the road. We have had some up and down games when visiting Drake, but this team can handle it and come out with a W. I going to the game and will report on the game when I'm home.

Let's Go :isu:

ISU wins 58-51

What a hard win for ISU. They had to battle many things that stood in front of them. Alison had trouble shooting but kept her head and made a 3 when we needed it the most and kept her head up after to back-to-back bogus fouls. This was my first trip to the Knapp Center and I wasn't impressed. The gym is so small, but then again they draw a different numbers of fans then other schools. Great job by Kelsey Bolte and Amanda Nislet.
I am sure that many ISU fans will agree with me that Jill Martin deserves an emmy for her performance in "how to fall anytime you shoot a three", but a wins a win.

Have a great break ladies and hit the books hard!

Clutch win for ISU. Awesome job by Kelsey and Amanda with others in foul trouble and Heather playing hurt. Amanda airballed a couple of three's early on and Drake pep band got on her then late in the game she hits a three and get a basket and foul shot. On the foul shot the pep band is still chanting airball. What a bunch of morons. that is Drake class at it's best. Another great defensive effort. I haven't seen ISU play this good a defense in a long time.
Now to my rant. I looked at the officials before the game and saw 2 female to 1 male and knew we were screwed. Before you blast me for being a male pig it's not about the gender, it just happens to be a pattern of bad officating for isu. Maybe it's cause we a male coach I don't know.

I have yet to understand how the Knapp Center got an Elite Eight when it was brand new. It was too small to hold the fans back in 1995.

Good win, Cyclones.

I have been to many different venues and it blows my mind that Drake's center is so some. I have been to high schools with bigger gyms!

Cyclone Rules- I too had a bad feeling when I saw the refs today. I don't feel like it was their gender, but I just knew it wasn't going to good. At first they were calling touchy fouls then not calling fouls then calling anytime they shot a three. Kelsey's foul was the worst. Martin fell and Kels tripped over her feet.

Knapp Center seating capacity is 7002, not much smaller than Stanford's Maples pavillion at 7392. Both are small by Big-12 standards, but probably in the normal range for most D-I arenas.

Not to mention the player who took down Amanda in the second half. I talked to someone who was at home listening on the radio and the the radio team said one of the refs took time to glare at an isu fan in the stands. Totally unprofessional.

The refs were the worst ones I've seen in a LONG time. We're fortunate that we played well enough to overcome their inconsistencies and general ineptness. When you go from calling four quick hand checks at the start to calling nothing to calling phantom fouls when the player does a flop (which happened more than once), there's a definite issue there.

Amanda impressed the hell outta me yesterday by coming on strong at the end in spite of the two airballs and constant razzing by the pep band. Kelsey played great also - she looks better every game she plays.

I was impressed with our defense once again (we held Drake's leading scorer to 5 points, where she'd been averaging around 20). We haven't been scoring a lot lately, but managed to keep our opponent from scoring just enough to make sure we're in it at the end. Although I have to admit I prefer the 20 point blow-outs - less stressful and easier on my vocal chords. I yelled myself hoarse yesterday!
