As this was supposedly a year when only 20 draftee's were going to make their rosters, here's the breakdown I've got figured:
All Round 1 Picks made their rosters.
In Round 2, 12 picks made their rosters, though one pick decided not to come to the US and is listed as suspended.
In Round 3, 3 picks made their rosters.
In Round 4, no roster picks made their rosters.
Free Agents, 19 Free Agents made their rosters.
The Free Agent number really surprised me; just goes to show what a player can do if they spend a season or two working on their skills.
So, I figure from the "experts figure" of 20, we end up with a real figure of 50 players.....quite a gap there. The numbers were "helped" by a number of foreign players deciding to stay in their home countries for whatever reason.....i.e. pressure to play/train with their national teams. I believe there is only 1 Russian player that is playing in the WNBA and also is a member of the Russia National Team, that being Svetlana Abrosimova, who had a spectacular college career. Unlike many other players, who are new to US basketball.
