DALLAS -- Iowa State's Angie Welle was named Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week and Nebraska's Keasha Cannon was named Big 12 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week in a vote of a media panel for games played from Dec. 10-16, announced the conference office Monday. Welle posted a double-double in each of ISU's three games last week. The 6-4 senior center has tallied a double-double in five of ISU's last six games and owns 39 career double-doubles. Welle earned Cyclone Classic MVP honors after averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds in the two tournament games. She drained a career-best 11-of-15 free throws in the championship game. The Fargo, N.D., native sank her first three-pointer of the season against Niagara, her only try of the game. Over last week's three-game span, she averaged 24.7 points and 14.3 rebounds, hit 75 percent of her shots from the floor (24-32), and 80.6 percent from the charity stripe (25-31). Welle also totaled four blocked shots, six steals and three assists. The Cyclones improved to 9-0 on the season with three wins last week.

Cannon averaged 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocked shots per game in a pair of Nebraska losses. The 5-10 junior point guard from Kansas City, Kan., continued to lead Nebraska in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals on the season, averaging 12.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She also ranks third on the team with six blocked shots from her point guard spot. Cannon connected on 14-of-25 field goal attempts (56 percent), including 3-of-5 three-pointers (60 percent). The Huskers fell to 8-3 on the season with losses at Cincinnati and Drake.
