KSU wins 88-61. Shalee Lehning had 16 pts, 11 assists and 6 rebounds. One of the best point guards in the country IMO. Kimberly Deitz also had 16 points, Ashley Sweat had 11, Marlies Gipson 10, Shana Wheeler and Jackie Stanley had 7, Danielle Zanotti had 6, Kelsey Nelson and Kari Kincaid had 5, Shalin Spani 3 and Carolyn McCullough had 2. We looked pretty well balanced and I believe we will have a great season. Jackie Stanley is going to bring in some toughness that we have been missing in the past. All in all a great opening to the season!

That's a pretty decent win for the Wildcats. How did Marlies Gipson look? Is her knee back to 100% yet?

Marlies looks good to me. I did think she had some sort of ding during the game but came back in and seemed to be fine. I don't see any lingering problems from her knee but I don't have any inside info on the subject.

This was an enjoyable game. Washington has lots of size and lots of talent but the team has not gelled yet under new Head Coach Tia Jackson. She was an assistant at Duke for the last couple of years and is in her first season as a HC. One of her assistants is Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, formerly HC of Missouri State and, if I remember correctly, assistant at ISU. The Huskies were picked to finish 5th or 6th in the Pac 10.

Shalee put up those stats in 21 minutes. She has not become excessively shy yet. ;)

Kelsey Hill did not have much for stats but she looks to me like a player who will make us wince less when Shalee gets a foul. She is a tough player with good point skills and also not shy. I like what I see of the Wildcats so far.
