Cowgirl Basketball Defeats East Central In Exhibition Finale

STILLWATER, Okla. -
Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team won the second of its two exhibition contests on Tuesday night, defeating East Central, 101-33, in front of 1,521 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The Cowgirls held the Lady Tigers to a 26 percent shooting night and forced 32 turnovers on their way to victory.

OSU held an eight-point lead with nine minutes to go in the first half before closing the period on a 19-5 run to head into the break with a 41-19 advantage.

In the second half, the Cowgirls used a 17-0 run that included six points off turnovers to put the game out of reach. In the final 20 minutes, OSU hit 53 percent of its shots and exploded for 60 points to reach the century mark.

Freshman Kristin Hernandez paced OSU off the bench, pouring in 23 points in just 18 minutes. The Dallas, Texas native connected on nine of her 11 shots from the field, including three of her four 3-point attempts.

Sophomore Andrea Riley led the starting five with 22 points, while dishing out a game-high six assists.

After sitting out the opener against the Oklahoma Flyers, senior Danielle Green returned to the lineup with 12 points and seven rebounds, while junior Shyvon Spears grabbed a game-high 12 boards.

Sophomore Ally Clardy was perfect from the floor, hitting all three of her 3-point attempts on her way to an 11-point, three-assist night to round out the quartet of double-figure scorers.

OSU will open its regular season on Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Air Force.
