:NU: I've affectionately nicknamed the 07-08 Huskers WBB team the new Blackshirts. I have never seen that kind of defensive intensity in a Husker squad. There were times when the UNK point guard dribbled down to 6 or 7 seconds left on the shot clock because every passing lane was shut down tight.
Remember the names Dominique Kelley, Cathryn Redmon and Kaitlyn Burke. They are going to be special players in the Big 12 over the next 4 years. If there is a more mature and fundamentally sound freshman in the league than Kelley, I really want to see her play. Kelley played like she was a veteran last night.
Also get to know Tay Hester. In how many directions can one body twist in going up for a rebound? ATHLETIC . . . ATHLETIC . . . ATHLETIC!
Kelsey Griffin has added some "point guard" duties to her repertoire, bringing the ball up the court on various occasions. She also took the huddle in every time out while Coach Yori was consulting with her assistants. Nicole Neals had two Pete Marovich type of passes. One sailed over the defenders and should have landed right in Kelsey Griffin's hands. Unfortunately, Griffin moved and the ball sailed out of bounds.
