KSUron

KSU was off its stride all night. Laurie Koehn went 3-11 from three point range. K-State shot only 37% in the first half. Nicole Ohlde had 9 turnovers. On the good side LK scored 17 and NO had 5 blocks including a key one at the end of the game. LK hit her third trey with 36 seconds remaining. The Middle Tennessee Coach was gracious in defeat and said on their radio interview after the game that if her team played a perfect game it was within KSU's capability to still beat them by twenty. I am not so sure. Middle Tenn had a lot of quickness and that offset KSU's best advantage. On the other hand the shots did not fall and the Wildcats still found a way to win on the road over a team ranked 63rd on the "Collegiate Basketball News" RPI.
KSU was down 24-28 at the half. Coach Patterson left her beloved zone and went to an aggressive man defense for the start of the second half. The Cats were effective with it and were able to go from 4 down to a double digit lead. She then went back to a zone and Middle Tenn slowly worked its way back to take the lead. KSU had to rely on gritty defense and clutch shooting to win at the end. The Middle Tennessee radio broadcasters said they sure would like to ask Coach Patterson why she went away form the zone. I would to. The Cats are very athletic and have decent bench strength. I think they play well on both ends of the floor when they play man-to-man. I can tell you one obvious thing though, Coach Patterson and her staff know a lot more about basketball and the KSU players than I do.
Chelsea Domenico started at the point for this game and played 24 minutes. She did not score, had 1 assist and 4 turnovers. She was clearly hurting and not up to par. She will rest her hand and not play on Thursday. Koehn played the entire 40 minutes.
Cheers
